Another blue screen

I've bought one of the mp4 players that looks similar to the ipod, but not identical. It claimed to be 8gb, though I now know it's only 1gb

My problems started when plugging it in to charge it up, the hourglass just stayed on. I tried letting it fully discharge, then fully recharge, neither made any difference and the computer no longer recognised it.

Today I found your site and I've spent 7 hours of my life so far trying to get this working  I've done the shorting the pins out, installing the driver etc. Eventually it appeared in explorer as 2 drives, and I used the disk management feature that came on the software disk and reformatted it, into a single disk.

I've finally after trying about 50 firmware updates downloaded new utilities software and found that did actually update the player. Now I can't beleive that I class this as sucess, but I've had using different firmware, no screen, blue screen and a half black half white screen, but I can't get one that actually works

The chips have the following identifying marks:

SAMSUNG 716
K9G8G08U0M
PCB0
ATJ2091N

Is there something I am mising? because I have downloaded and installed every file from the V9xx database and none work.

Is it time to give up and throw the peice of carp in the bin?

Cheers for any help you can provide.
