Make sure there are no drivers needed or anything like that maybe on a cd supplied with it?, if not try it on a different computer preferably try it in the rear usb slots as they are powered better.

If none of that works contact the seller for return or exchange for new item.

As said in the previous message - try installing the driver that comes on the CD. However this is very unlikely to solve the problem. What may be required is that you{
- unplug you player from the computer
- turn the computer off
- unplug the computer from the mains (that means physically puling the
plug). If you are using a laptop - take the battery block out too
- leave it unplugged for 10-15min (may be up to 30min) - just go and have a coffee or a handle of beer.
When done - plug everything back in turn it on, plug the player in and turn it on... This usually works. Of course for the peace of mind you can still load that USB driver - but if you are really using XP - you do not need to - never worked that way... Those chinese who make those players have no idea half the time what they sell and make so long as it makes the till ring and people who buy these payers they are mainly after the cheapie ones, and that's where it comes back to bite them... Not that I blame anyone - just you get what you paid for a true example...
