Player: Disk Error! format before installing new firmware ?
 

Hi everybody,

My Ipod-nano-like (no name) player is dead, the only thing working is the fm radio :(
The others menu said "DISK ERROR"

So I tried to format with the HP USB Disk Format Tool, but it said "Disk Write Protected"

How could I format it, and especially, is it really necessary to format it before installing a new firmware (by the way I search this firmware Here)

Can you format it within Windows? Does that work or come up with the same problem?

Have you also tried formatting it using the "Disk Tool" as part of the MP3 Player Utilities?

Which option should I pick (format low, quick, full) ?

I formated using MP3 Player Utilities with the option FULL and now it works
