Hi ayni,

Have you tried FORMATTING your player?
Sometimes the "format error" happens because of a corruption in the file system or a sign of a 'hacked player.

Hi there and thanks for the quick response. i did tried formating it and it just goes back to disk error when accessing through the player itself. my player has a memory info and it displays 962mb before but after it had disk errors it now shows 0mb. it can be formatted but it just goes back after it restarts connecting to pc. i even tried the how to: remove memory hack. nothing goes well so far. only he fm feature works.

thanks ill keep posted if anyone would help further. tnx for the response again.

hi there ayni..you should format your player in a full mode..reflashing a firmware will not do the trick..youll end up with the dead player if you do so..

i did format my player but as soon as it reconnects i get the same error again and the formatted disk goes back to 0mb capacity. property shows its a raw drive and im again prompted for it to format whenever i get to click the drive letter assigned to it. i was wondering if there is ever a chance it should work again. ill keep in touch and hopefully i can get help. to those who helped bunch of thanks.

Start up MP3 Utilities Disk Tool.

Ensure that you select LOW Format Type.

Next, go to the Partition and Encrypt tab as shown below.

Slide the Partition slider to the Left, and click on Start.

You will repeat the process and the "Complete setting disk partition!" dialog box would appear.

Then Format again your player on Windows..

experiencing the same problem also after recovering a firmware. its 1gb and looks like its not hacked bit im wondering why there are 2 drives recognized one is a CD driver and the other a removable drive with 962mb. I can copy mp3 files on it but it will display a disk error when accessing the Music menu on the player. Likewise it reflects 00M on the Memory Info menu.

Okay try this, explore on the SYSTEM menu of your player then go to ONLIDE MODE.it should be MULTI-DRIVE.

^same error, kabayan.

zrock 1st Mar 2008 7:36 pm

Okay, have you tried to replace the firmware of your player?Still got same error again?

just a backgrounder. the unit was stucked with the hourglass when the unit is turned on. since i got another unit, same specs since its a same model, bought on the same store at the same time, i checked the working unit's firmware. downloaded the fw from s1mp3 site, flashed it to the malfunctioning unit and it worked. the unit now boots with menu, Windows can recogize it as usb mass storage device (962mb). i can even copy files on it but once i access the music, movie etc menus it displays a disk error message

Okay,so formatting is no use.Maybe its a hardware problem.I' m referring to the Flash chip.

a 10k resistor connect to flash memory is open circuit.

This is how I solved it:
1. Reset the chip as descibed in the "Dead Player recovery guide".
2. Update the firmware with MASS PRODUCT TOOL (that is, not "MP3 Upgrade Tool".
3. If the player still doesn't work, reset the chip again and update the firmware again but this time with "MP3 UPGRADE TOOL".

Let me know if it worked!

Re: my player displays disk error, cant play music. radio pl

I'VE been using my digital MP3/MP4 player ( 2GB )
with firmware version:

INSAIL_N
2007-03-23
9.0.50
2005-01-09

After sometime of not using it, it produces disk error.
I thought it just ran out of battery (LOWBAT). So I tried to recharge it for hours
When I tried to turn it on, the menu is there and working but
when I access my music files, all i get is DISK ERROR!!!
from 2Gb it was reduced to 46Mb.

I connected it to Windows 2000 machine, it recognized
my mp4 player but says NOT FORMATTED! I tried to format it
for several times, it doesnt correct the error.

I tried to connect it to WinXP machine, same thing...
it recognized my mp4 player but says NOT FORMATTED!
I tried to format it for several times, it doesnt correct the error.

DISK ERROR ulit !!!

I accessed the SYS SETUP menu then
selected the ONLINE mode...
then played with the options from there ...
I selected NORMAL mode then
formatted it again on my WinXP machine using FAT file system
the DISK ERROR was gone. the 2Gb was restored.

I can now use my MP4 player again.

Hi, have you tried the instructions found here? http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

You should go ahead and do so if you haven't already, especially if you bought your player off of eBay. Disk errors usually are the result of hacked memory.
