Default MP4 player shown as CD ROM drive!

My mp4-player died on me, but after a firmware update my player now starts up but when I try choose Music or Video from the menu I get this message: "disk error!".

I've tried formatting and doing the hack removal, but no success. The strange thing is that I now got two new drives, the normal USB-drive and an ACTIONS USB DISK CD ROM USB Device!

Does anyone have an idea what I should do now?

Try exploring the SYSTEM menu of your player then on the ONLIDE MODE it should be MULTI-DRIVE..then if doesn't work format your player on WINDOWS..if still symptom persists, the new firmware you have flashed maybe the problem..i think so..

I've used 5.09. I also tried 4.05 but it didn't let me upgrade (it couldn't identify the firmware correct)

@admin, i used 4.15 , earlier versions wont work, same with 5.09. wierd thing though, I open up the player and found this info :

control board : 080FV1-K
LCD : CM50012

firmware for 080FV1-K from s1mp3 wont work but flashing LG_LWL_KJT-781FV2_CM50012_AJ1025_V9.1.52 works but exhibits the disk error. I got another working unit with the same markings but the firmware info says
its flashed with 781FV2_CM50012. I've tried cloning
the working unit hoping to apply it to the "bricked"
unit but writing wont work also.

Is there a firmware extractor for 9.xx firmware.

I SOLVED IT!

This is how I did it:
1. Reset the chip as descibed in the "Dead Player recovery guide".
2. Update the firmware with MASS PRODUCT TOOL (that is, not "MP3 Upgrade Tool".
3. Reset the chip again and update the firmware again but this time with "MP3 UPGRADE TOOL".

Reswel,as of now there is no firmware extractor that supports 9.xx.xx firmwares, developers are still on their busy seats developing the new one.You can use the latest version of s1clone but it is still buggy then.
