The shape of the MP4 may be the same, but it will not work using the firmware with MAGIC.bin. It requires the firmware with PMP2401.bin

I have that same MP4 player and it came with a driver disk.
I zipped and uploaded the files to

http://www.datawhorehouse.com/mp4player/mp4firmware.zip

Good luck. I have the 2GB version and the firmware doesn't work. When connecting it via USB, my computer reports it as Ankya PMP2501

The screen shows BIOS PMP MLC V2.1.6

I did a low level format and then copied all the files into the 16MB folder. However when restarting, it doesn't boot back into the menu. Instead, I see some garbage graphics on the top 1/4 of the screen and it makes beeping noises. I wonder if I need the 2501 firmware???

The firmware that comes from its driver disc will not work.

I believe you have to copy/get the DynamicFont2, AkResData.bin, PMP2401.bin and config_data.bin from the 14MB or 16MB partition of another same player.

In my situation, the memory space used to store the DynamicFont2, AkResData.bin, PMP2401.bin and config_data.bin is only 13.9MB and because of this, it is not sufficient enough to store the above files that comes from the same player that has 16MB memory allocation for its firmware files.

Rolan,

If you want to try,
Copy DynamicFont2.bin, config_data.bin and PMP2401.bin from your driver disc to your MP4 player's 16MB partition,
then copy the AkResData.bin you download from http://rapidshare.com/files/10398013...sion_.zip.html to your player

Good luck and please report the result

I was not able to copy all the files onto my first partition either. Apparently, I have 13.9MB of space in the first partition, 2MB in the second, and 2GB in the third.

What if you only copy the PMP2401.bin and AkResData.bin into it? Leave the config_data.bin and DynamicFont2.bin behind?

Would it be possible for you to buy another one like the one you currently have? I have been trying to buy the one that has the 13.9MB of partition to fix my current one, but it seems that they are either difficult to find or no longer available in the market.
