If you have another IDENTICAL player you can use S1clone to clone the working player and then copy it to the dead player (also using s1clone).

Knasen,
I tried s1clone at the begining. Even I can generate a file of 25Mb or so with the working MP4, I got an error (flash memory not found) when tried to upload to the dead MP4.
Thatīs why I discarded this method.

With other upgrade utulities something is left at the memory of the dead device, as further upgrades detects the previous version. But doesnīt work anyway..

bygben: thank you, anyway.

I donīt know what else to do...

Regards,
Sergio

Could someone advice if I should wait for a new upgrading tool or what to try?

Sergio1,yes your right that s1fwx only support version 3.xx.xx firmwares good reading though.About s1clone,it's not too perfect for a tool so you shouldn't expect something good.Developer's release notes on s1clone stated that that tool is buggy so it works on a player and it does not on other player. The best thing to do to relive your player is to look for a full suitable firmware.Try finding your firmware on www.s1fw.com

Thank you zrock.

You answer makes me feel better.

I donīt know what is a "compatible" fw. After uploading several fw, many of them are installed, but no one revives the device.

The questions now are: if I find the right fw, what should be the proper application to upload it?

I have an identical WORKING player. Could I extract its fw in any way to upload to the dead one?

Sergio
