Default Ipod nano Gen.3 (fake) FW QS91B03FGD17

Hi friends.
First of all let me congratulate the great posts I found on this forum, especially those ones to revive dead players.

I have two identical fake Ipod nano Gen.3 8Gb, both brand new. One is working properly and the 2nd is still dead. Pictures were already posted in the forum:

http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9548/dscn2374nr0.jpg

Here is some information I could get from the dead one:

Board: QS91B03 V02 2007 11 23
FM: SP3767 AHN 07J832
Processor: AK1025 7J061AB 0K2

Afortunately, I found out from the working device on its setting, that fw is QS91B03FGD17, version is QSSM AK 1025 9.1.52; almost the same number on the board of the dead one!!

I believe I am close to revive the dead one, but need help.

I can extract the firmware with s1fw from the working device, but not sure if the dump file is OK because it endswith error. When I try to upgrade the dead one with MP3 Upgrade tool, and using dump file it also ends with error, and cannot recover the dead one.

Could someone suggest what to do, and what tools to use? I believe my fw is quite actual and can help others in this forum.

Regards,
Sergio

Hi s1fw, and thank you.
Of course I visited that page, but no found the right tools. According to the notes of s1fwx it doesnīt support 9.1.52 fw, as I need to dump the fw from the working device and then upload it to th dead device.
I also tryed s1clone. I could create the image (big file of obout 25 Mb) of the working device, but when tryed to write the dead one, I got the "no flash chip detected" error. So I am not 100% sure if hardware the dead player is OK, or if it just a mtter of fw...

Any other suggestion?

Regards,
Sergio

Dear friends,
Cold someone tell which is the proper tool to extract the fw 9.1.52 from a hacked 8 gb nano like Gen.3, working device? s1fwx or s1clone?
With s1fwx I got an error when try to read flash memory. With s1clone I got a large file of about 25Mb but when trying to upload to the dead device I got the "flash memory not found error".
If I use MP3 utilities to upgrade, it seems to upload something to the dead device since it shows the previous fw downloaded, but still remains dead, it works as a USB mass storage of 1GB.

I hope somebody help...

hi Sergio,

Restart windows in Failure mode to force install adfu driver if not installed, then it's normal that your mp4 is not visible, just detected  after reboot just start software for upload your firmware.

You can try my 2 firmware for your MP4 :

Here

see ya

bygben,
ADFU is installed and the MP4 is detected as "USB ADFU (HS)" when shorting the pins of the memory. They I can download firmware, but nothing happens, even with yours. In certain tries it is detected as "USB mass storage", but not working anyway. (should it be detected as "USB flash disk"?)
I canīt revive my MP4 .

Regards,
Sergio

Hi, sergio

Try this step from my package , upload full firmware 2 first , after upload firmware 1 upgrad , use RdiskUpdate.exe software v1.0.0.1, if not work use this upgrade firmware http://rapidshare.de/files/38883650/...rmware.fw.html

Dear bygben,
I tried firmware 2, but seems not to be the right one for my MP4 as it is not detected as USB device anymore.
I have to short pins to bring it back as"Actions USB 2.0 (HS) WinUSB Device".

It seems I have to wait for anew tool or 9.1.52 fw...

Regards,
Sergio

Thank you bygben. But after uploading with MP3 Player Utilities 5.09, MP4 remains as USB mass storage, but nothing appears on the screen but a white display.

Regards,
Sergio
