Dead or alive? :) Stucked in waiting state! :(

I have the 3rd gen Nano clone with 1,8 TFT and 3,8 GB.

So the battery went empty, and just pluged the usb cable (not connectet to the PC!) just the pure cable, the starting sand timer screen was appeared. And now stucked on that! Only that screen appears.
The PC not recognize as ADFUu just undefinided USB device.

I can turn on to the sandtimer, so its not totaly dead, just a Zombie...:)

? How can I reset this? I didnt hurt the firmware anyway, just formatted with the hacking removal method...and used for 2 days.

Please help me!

bulesz, turn it on again and wait for about a minute if still the hourglass stuck, sad to say your player is simply as dead.Maybe in the charging thing damage the firmware on it.You know when you charge your player you should have to plug first the charger on a AC outlet along with the usb cable then last is plug it in on your player.

Follow the guide here:

thanks for your reply!

So the proper charging method: Plug the cable to the PC or AC, and turon on the player with the switch (on the case, and NOT with the play button) and after plug the player to the cable?

Just to know at my next player...:)

?

I could install the ADFUU driver, but not seen by the explorer? What should I do?

almost players can be charge even if it is in power off.Yes the player would be the last to be connected. It's an "electronics way" thing to do.

Install the latest version of Mp3 Utilities. Then short again the pins(if you have done it already). If asked for ADFU driver always use the RECOMMENDED option.

It is not a serious problem to get the fireware because I will have another player (the same) and I would copy its firmware to this sick one.

BUT, the windows explorer couldnt recognize it! In the device manager its an ADFUU device but I cant do anything with this! :(

I should nuke the pins (hardreset) and replay the install method?

if you have the identical or same player you can use s1clone.Have a look at the site below for infos how to use it.

Good Luck!!

Re: Dead or alive? :) Stucked in waiting state! :(

if a player is in ADFU(recovery) mode it can't be detected on the explorer.

In the discription of s1clone:

"now connect the damaged player. therefor you have to bring it at least into ADFU mode (maybe you have to short-circuit the memory chip). take care you have the actions usb driver or, even better, the libusb/swan usb driver installed. finally write the extracted flash image and with some luck you will own another working device!"

Frequently Asked Questions

The application fails to run!

the application expects the "libusb0.dll" to be present either in the application path or inside window's "system32" folder. this dll is attached to the s1clone archive, inside the "usb_driver" folder. if not done already, please copy this file to the location where you have extracted "s1clone.exe" before. instead, you could also install the libusb driver which will automatically copy the needed dll to your windows system32 path.

What to do on the "Semaphore Timeout has expired" exception?

it seems this problem isn't caused by the player, but by the computer itself. some usb ports (maybe v1.1 ports), don't work properly with the libusb/swan driver. using another computer to clone the player may fix this problem.

"if a player is in ADFU(recovery) mode it can't be detected on the explorer. "

but in the deadplayer recovery guide I have red that it should see in the explorer, because needed to format it...or something I misunderstood? :)

Thanks for your great help!

Other question: if I have a new player, can I make a backup of the firmware just in case?

And to publish here for the others

Yup absolutely misunderstood. What i mean is that if your player is in ADFU mode you can't access it as a REMOVABLE DRIVE.You can't format it cause its still in ADFU mode or RECOVERY MODE.Only the DEVICE MANAGER can see the ADFU.But if you have flashed a compatible firmware and it works for your player it shoould be detected in the computer as a REMOVABLE DRIVE,so thats the time you can format it.Got it buddy?

Yes you can use Wire's tools the s1fwx to extract firmware but only supports version 3.xx.xx firmwares and for v9 firmwares is still on development.

Wire's tools can be found here www.s1mp3.de
