Default [SOLVED] What am I doing wrong?

Hi everybody
Following the dead player recovery guide I´m trying to recover an Inovix IMP-1112 mp4 player but with bad results.
I made the reset on the chip and my Windows XP detects new hardware but no an USB Device or ADFU Device, what my XP sees is a player recovery class device (or something like this, I have to translate from spanish and my english is poor as you can read).
If I try to install the ADFU driver (AdfuUpdate.inf and ADFUUD.SYS) my XP restarts every try.
Anyway, when i run Mp3 Upgrade Tool no devices are detected, so I can´t upload any firmware on my mp4.
If anybody could help me I would be grateful.
Best regards

reypescador, about the ADFU problem try this.Install the latest version of Mp3 Utilities.Restart your computer.Plug the player to your computer. If nothing happens short the flash pins again while the player is connected to the PC.If asked for ADFU driver, always use the RECOMMENDED option which means you should install the driver AUTOMATICALLY.If the WINDOW LOGO error appears just ignore it and continue. Then your player will be in ADFU mode already.

Thanks for your answer zrock
I have mp3 player utilities 5.09 (the newst I could find), I restarted my PC and plug the device as you suggested but it´s always detected as a "Player recovery device class" (initially shows STMP3500 to install the driver). I install the default windows driver and I have my Player recovery device class in good condition but without any USB devices, so I can´t upgrade anything.
Thanks again

Yo`re right ops: . Its a Sigmatel device and I`ve read somewhere that Sigmatel devices are not compatible with Mp3 player utilities. It has its own software to deal with firmwares (Sigmatel MSCN Audio player-Firmware upload), but using it under XP I have always the same error message (Operating system reported error. The semaphore timeout period has expired).
It has an Hynix chip (HYNIX KDR HY27UV08AG5M TPCB 627A)
Thank you very much for your answers

I'll try to explain myself a little bit better.
I've read the Sigmatel recovery guide and I got my device into recovery mode by pressing the play button 10 seconds and so on.
Then I start the firmware uploader program (it came in a CD with the player) it detects that the device is not initialized and shows me a screen with some information(current firmware version is 000.000.000 and firmware version to upload 866.166.403, I'm not sure of these numbers). At this moment in my hardware appears a "Generic MSCN USB unit". The program allows me to initiate uploading. After a few seconds the player's screen ligths and shows "READY" (an icon with a PC connected) and the firmware´s version number (same as the firmware version to upload).
After a while I get the error message "Operating system reported error. The semaphore timeout period has expired".
I don't know where the problem is (Windows XP?, bad firmware's version?, ...).
Thanks for your help and your patience

Hello everybody again
I´m improving with my problem.
I start upgrading firmware and it ends some tasks (allocatig tables, writing tasks...) but while the PC screen shows "Unlocking drives" appears the error "Operative system reported error. The semaphore timeoyt has expired" and aborts.
After this I can see a USB mass storage unit, I´m able to format and to use it as storage unit but the screen does not light.
Any help would be wellcome. Thanks

I answer myself because my problem seems to be solved.
At the end I`ve upgraded to the firmware version contained in the mini-CD that came originally with the device but SWITCHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION.
Maybe somebody could find this usefull.
