I'm not sure which chip does what, so I'll give the details written on them according to the back image of the player :

Top left chip (largest):

Hey man I know how you feel...I have tried at least 30 different fw files and still no good. I even went on chinese sites tru google there are 1000's of these files and none match my unit....which is the same as yours...I have a tread going for the past week and only 2 people have answered me.

My player worked fine but could not hold all my music, I then found out it was a hacked 2GB and not a 4GB...so I saved a copy of the fw (with S1clone) and the formatted it with fat it came out to be 1.9GB. I put some music on it and even did a small movie on it ...it was going good...then I got the hourglass and now I get just a blue screen.

I am lucky that I got back all of my money tru Ebay/Paypal and I still have my b&w ipod 20GB.....I wanted color!!!!

hope we can get these units going BTW mine is black with a black wheel.

matanzg,look for the Board Id of your player and post it here.Have a look at this link below:

I'va got exactly the same fake ipod and I can't find the board ID...Guess i'll have to search under the screen even if it's risky.

But i've tried all the AK 1025 series firmwares without success... :/

i have the same as the author. but black.

mine still works but when i erased the albums i had on it to try to start over it went buggy. i don't think it earsed it all for real.
now when i turn it on i can listen to the album that comes up 1st but when i try to go back threw the root folder as to get to another ablum it restarts on me.

Hey guys, please notice that I've updated the top post with the Board ID.

Also, can someone please explain, or link us to a post explaining how to upload your own firmware, so that nomadik can try and help us by uploading his own firmware, in case he does have the same board ID ?

to get my board number I had to almost remove the screen(it had some 2 sided tape holding it on)

well i can give the tip ,try to search the www.s1fw.com,but dont ever try to fix your player with the same ID like yours(QY781FV2) ,try the other firmware's too.Secondly the screen plate ID is very important is it TFT series or the CM series and search with the screen ID too.Finally and the most important if you are searching the firmware for the AK1025 then dont ever stuck your self on the AK1025 firmwares ,definlaty try the ATJ2091 firmwares on the AK1025 chip ............. i hope if you work hard then you get your mp4 fixed.
