Guide for Inovix IMP-64 FM recovery.
 

Hi! I did not found any good information about fixing Inovix Imp-64 FM Mp3player, so i´ve been looking deeply and finally i´ve fixed my (old) player.

Inovix homepage is not avaliable, so you cant download from there.

I know that Imp-64 firmware depends on player serial number, but the only firm i´ve found its v3.196. It worked for me, so i hope it would work for you too!

What you need:

- SigmaTel Firmware Upload Tool
- SigmaTel Recovery Drivers (included in Firmware Upload Tool)
- Firmware for IMP-64 FM (download here)

firmware uploading software its not the same for old and new firmwares.

I have uploaded v3.196 firm with this tool and there was no problem.

BUT PLEASE! Be CAREFULLY with this! Once you unzip the file you will get some folders. The folder called "Binary" contains four files: its a for-me-unknown-firmware.

So if you want to fix an Imp-64 you´d better delete the 4 files before installing SigmaTel Firmware Uploader and put new four files in that folder (binary). This way we will avoid "bricking" the player.

(Certainly you *would* never brick the player, because SigmaTel chip has a recover option.And this "recovery mode" its the better way to upload the new firmware)

So you can choose:

a) Download SigmaTel Firmware Upload here
and replace current binary files with good one files (Firmware for IMP-64 FM listed before on "what you need") BEFORE installing the tool

b) Download this pack (tool+IMP64 firm) and install the tool

Whatever you choose, if you do what i said, you will get SigmaTel Firmware Upload Tool installed and v3.196 properly foldered.

Next step:

- Open mp3 battery cover and get battery off the player.

- Hold "play" button and without releasing plug the player on your computer

- Wait for 10 seconds until computer detects the player like a new device. If your asked for drivers, look for them on "Driver/driver" folder contained in downloaded zip file.

- Once new device is properly installed, open SigmaTel tool (usually Start-Programs-SigmaTel MSCN Audio Player-Firmware Download)

- Wait until player is detected

- Press start to upload v3.196 firm. I recommend marking "format data track"; You will lose all your mp3 data, but if your player was "dead"...its probably that you had no readable data in it. So, format data track.
