Hi cvc7chris,

My best bet is to FORMAT the player. Player restarting is a possible sign that you have either a HACKED player or a player with corruption in it's memory or one of the blocks on the memory. Whenever you press a button or do any 'action' on the player, it needs to access the memory as well as the storage (disk) area on your player. If it has been hacked or there is a corruption, then it would have problems doing that so reboots itself.

Start by going through this article here --> How to: Perform a scan disk and repair bad sectors.

There is a "How to remove memory hack" guide but I think I accidentally deleted it so will have to get it restored from somewhere.

I would highly recommend *not* upgrading your player's firmware. You only need to look in the [Dead Players] section of this forum to see what I mean. There is a very high risk of having a 'dead' player as a result of using an incompatible firmware on your player.

Try following this guide here --> How To: Removing Memory Hack.

cvc7chris,

Has this problem just started happening or happened from day one when you first got your player?

Can you go into the "setup" and "firmware info" within your player's menu? If so, can you find out the FIRMWARE VERSION of your player please? I would be interested to know.

Your original post said your seller isn't registered anymore. Is there any other way you can contact them? If you can, try to get a refund or exchange for it. If that fails you can file a dispute with PayPal (if you paid by PayPal that is). I'm sure you'll get a response from the seller then!

okay my brother told me to get a paperclip and run it around the contact on the black chips while it's hooked up to the computer and it will restart the mp4 player or something i did it and it seems to be working ALOT better

after i did the LAST link you provided my MP4 is not 2gb
i think it WAS a hacked memory!...

now i can listen to music and heres the firmware.

idk if i should still file a dispute? or not.
i DID pay with paypal.

and it hasn't turned off on me. i took it to work played for about 2 hours
and listened to it last night and it was fine!..

all i did was get a paper clip and put it on the contacts where the black
memory things were and i think that fixed it

i'll keep you posted if anything else happens

Hi cvc7chris,

Good to hear you're making progress.
Running a paper clip along the contacts is a technique used by the "Dead Player Recovery Guide" which can be found here --> "DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE.

If the memory has been hacked and you have only 2GB and not the advertised memory that you original bought, you should ask for a PARTIAL REFUND with PayPal. File a dispute and ask for a partial refund with the seller. This has been a common agreement with other members in the past who have bought hacked players.
