my player restarts my pc

i was trying to change te firmware on my mp3 player ..... i tried a few firwares but none work...... the last one i tried must have a problem because if I connect the player to my pc .... the moment my pc recognizez the player ... the pc restarts..... what can I do ? ? ?? ?
please please please help me
