Onda OEM vx858 won't format after upgrade

Hi!

My sister in law bought an Onda vx858 player on ebay. Since she was having big calibration problems (she had to press 10 mm above an icon to actually activate it), I thought that updating her device with a newer firmware might solve this. BIG MISTAKE!

After comparing several photos on these forums, I concluded it was an OEM version (8 GB). So I flashed it with the "ONDAMP4-En-V1.10_SE.zip" file I found here (the OEM firmware with the Onda logo replacing the crappy "Bye Bye" screen).

All went fine, the device is starting up correctly, and I can navigate in the menus. But when I try to format it again in Windows XP, my PC will keep telling me that it can't format the drive. I tried different utilities (format command via a command line, MP3 Utilities Disk Tools, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool...) but they all say the same thing: the device can't be formatted.

No need to say that now I feel bad for having destroyed my sister in law's player, so if someone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.

Might be worth trying another firmware, there are some here, pick the one which looks most like your player.

I flashed the Firmware-2.8TFT-1-8G-EN-80107_ONDAlook.zip firmware, and it seems to be the original firmware I had on my player (v000.000.001) but with the cooler ONDA splash screens!
