Teclast C290 alike, touch buttons don't work anymore
I have a no brand player that's exactly like the Teclast c290, except that after flashing it with the most recent (5029) C290 firmware I cannot use the touch buttons anymore :(. Also it thinks it's charging all the time.
When I shake it, I can see it scrolling through the available menu items, but that's it. I tried all available c290 firmware versions, none work. I also tried all kinds of firmware (nexxtech c204, pentagram vanquish R wave, acme v500x among others). I wonder how much shorts my flash can take 8) The main board says: C291M-V3.0 20070029 On the touchpad pcb it says: C290KEY-V4.0(EKT8.....(can't read the rest) 20070713 I was convinced the original firmware was on the support CD, however I was too lazy to check for sure... Anyone know any other firmware to try? I do have access to some more of these players (company present :) ), any way to extract/copy the firmware? |
if you have access to the players then extract the firmware from another player and that is the best and safest way
no, scrap that, this is the older rockchip player and firmware can not be extracted must say though, i did not think that there were clones made of this player as the original went down like a lead balloon only other re brander i know of is pasen, they have a verion of this player but i imagine, am sure, it is the teclast player so may not work firmware here http://www.pasen.it/download/shakeit_firmware.rar BTW does your player have any screws on the side of the player?? just a thought well, try the pasen firmware but i dont think it will work, but hey |
Re: Teclast C290 alike, touch buttons don't work anymore
Thanks for your reply.
I already tried the Pasen firmware (forgot to mention that), has the same effects as teclast firmware. I found some more rebrands, like: Dazed C53 (russian) I also found firmware for this player here But, unfortunately, same effect again... Treelogic TL-554 (russian) Ovito M2814 Pentagram Vanquish R Wave P5115 For which firmware can be downloaded here (needless to say, this one also leaves me with an untouchable player  ) The only rebrand/version I found that mentions something with 291 (like it says on my PCB) is Ifoo IF-291 but no firmware to be found for this one... My player does not have screws, it was quite a pain to open it up, but once you have one corner slightly lifted it can be 'unpopped' from the metal base by sliding a thin piece of plastic along the rim. |
well it looks like you have tried everything going here, you have doe well to finds as many firmwares as you did
there is one here on the teclast FTP site ftp://59.39.59.99:2121/teclast/mp3/FW/ maybe have a route around there and see what you can find as they may have some older ones available i would suggest a quick email to company PASEN, they resell this player and they may know why this is happening, it could be that a hardware revision was made or something like that, anyway a quick as to them my shed some light on the subject sa to why none of these firmwares work mail address from here www.pasen.it |

Re: Teclast C290 alike, touch buttons don't work anymore
If it still boots (like yours) you can slide the switch to ON, and hold it there, and then press the reset button with a paper clip or something else. It's inside the tiny hole next to the mini-usb connector.
Then you can launch the flash software and it should recognize the player. You may have to try a few times. I advise to use chipgenius, that will show changes in the USB connections immediately. You can find it here. It should show up as "rockusb Device", not as "RockChip USB MP3 USB Device". Do you have the firmware for your player on the CD that came with it ??? I would be very interested  I checked www.dnt.de but they don't seem to have any reference to this player  |
Hi all, I have a C290 named on the board C291M ver 3.0
I used it a lot, never had problems. Then I gave it to a friend who returned it to me saying it crashes down, now it cannot boot up and neither charge. the Only thing it does is loading the welcome screen and suddenly turn off. When plugged into a usb port it tries (looping) to start but with no result, and the screen flashes for a second. Anyone have an idea ? Bye |
