Default Netac A150 help.

Hi all, as anyone got any experience of Netac mp3's?
I got a new Netac A150 today. I charged it fully but it would not turn on so I went to the netac site, downloaded and installed the firmware and it switched on first time. i listened to a few songs and the player turned off. I tried to turn it on again but no joy. I reinstalled the firmware and it worked again......for a few songs. Obviously I could send this back and get a refund but I want a working mp3 player and I'm aware that sometimes there is a very simple solution.

Update: i've formatted the player, reinstalled the firmware and its been playing for a lot longer now without stopping, except for when i turned it off and on again to chack.
The player came with some albums already loaded on plus what looked like dvd files. It could have been one of these files that was causing the problem. Fingers x'd

It's most likely hacked to show a bigger memory size than it actually is. Follow the "removing memory hack" guide in this forum to fix it and show its original capacity.

Before I try to remove any memory hack I have 2 questions.
Firstly if I try to remove a hack and its not hacked will it damage the player further?
And secondly if i fill the mp3 up to 2 gig with songs does it then mean its not hacked?

Ok, i've tried 3 different versions of MP3 utilites and none of them recognise my MP3 as connected, Windows does.

When I start mp3 ut's I get this first;

Error Message

Then when I ok it I see this screen, which does show my MP3 as a removable drive along with the size.

Format Page

So i check low then click the partition tab and I get the 1st error again. Ok it and the buttons are greyed out.

Partition and Encrypt

New update. Its started up ok today and is still running fine. Dont think its hacked, I've filled it to capacity and played the intro's of most of them.

Hmm, it's probably not an Actions chipset if it's not recognized by MP3 Player Utilities. Then i think you are fine, there have been no reports of other types of chipsets being hackable to show more memory.

Well not being Hacked is a good thing, and so far it is running ok, I'll post back if it starts again.
I would like to say that I contacted Netac through their website, although I did not buy the player directly from them and they were absolutely brilliant. When I went to their main site, as instructed to by the packaging I could not find any firmware or tools for my player. I did a google search and found them on another Netac site, not the .com site. at this point I thought 'oh dear' not very good people to deal with.........but I was wrong, they have replied to neumerous emails and included attachments screen shots and help files, so thumbs up to Netac.

Oh No, its happening again. I think i'm going to send it back, which is a real shame because its a nice unit. Unless of course someone can point me in the direction of a firmware upgrade that may fix it.
