No Disk in Drive F:

Hi,

I have bought a Chinese 1GB MP3 player ( must be fake)
it became faulty. It was showing 956MB even after few formatting.

Suddenly the file system became RAW and I could not format by any means. trying HP Disk Format utility
player is being allotted a drive F: but upon trying to open it message appears " No disk in drive F: please inter a disk.

Chipgenius showed folloing results:

I have tried HP USB Format utility and after that disk space become 0. Upon inserting player in USB port it appears at removable Disk, but trying to open it the message appears no disk in drive I: pls insert a disk. Checking the property of the Drive I: result is:

Used space : 0
Fre space : 0

I have opened the player and found following main parts:

Bord No is : 0839
Controller: Sinowealth SH86280P/064AP
Flash : Dynet DN27UT8G2ATP
Another chip: RODTAM or somthing like that

I shall be grate full to any body who provides solution.

You have a very rare chip.

Going from Internet results (http://www.google.com/search?q=SH86270 ) it's another 8051-based SoC (similar to ALi series). There's some firmware there too.

And Dynet flash? That is even more rare.

I can't help you much but provide that little information.

You can try a "low-level" format of the flash chip and see what happen, with this:

For me, recovered a faulty 1st-gen 512mb "bar" S1 player,
(the typical round one with BW lcd & multimegacolors backlight lol...)

Why you have formatted it?
Your had 952Mb instead of 1Gb because of hidden player's system files needed for work.

For example, my MP4 player have 3.9 Gb not 4Gb.

P.S. If you will delete the hidden files you will get near 1Gb
but you will not be able to use your player not only as hard drive!

Mine also is showing the same behavioir after low formating it to get rid of the mem hack. no space is shown now... and recognized as mp3boot
No idea how to resurrect it shorting the memory pins actually disconnects it from the pc (for some seconds) but it does not switches to ADC mode
