Default Dead Actions Recovery Guide Needed

Hello!
Don't be afraid, my Great Rockchip RK2608 is not dead!
But my friend, who has Actions Chipod, broke it when
was trying to find the new firmware because his old one was quite buggy.
So, is there any clear guide for repairing the old Actions?
Computer can't see it (not PC, not my friend's Mac), and it can't turn on!

I'm asking for it because tatad1's guide is quite universal,
and I can't open the my friend's player because afraid to make it
completely dead without any chance to resurrect.

Here's the image: http://img230.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1111wh3.jpg
It has 1.8" 260K-color TFT screen and 2Gb Memory.

Unfortunately you will need to open your player to short the pins and also find the board/plate numbers so you can find a compatible information for that player. There's no way around it as far as I know that can you get your player into recovery mode without shorting the pins.

I understand...
My friend will be furious if I'll completely kill his player...

 Is it important what pins I will short?
 Or just short any two of them?
 Or I need to short the all of them?
 Can I kill the player by shortening the two wrong pins?

 Can I just search for the right CHiPOD firmware which is new
instead of installing the old one from CD?
 To try the all of the CHiPOD firmares to find out the newest and best?
I would like to notice that I'll be often installing the wrong firmware.
 Will my friend's player be able to be revived after all that?

 It's the Action Player, and he wants me to add ID3 letters support,
don't sure what it is. Is there any support of ID3 in the new Action firmwares?

P.S. Sorry for my silly questions, but I've never tried to recover any player before.
So, please, can you answer for ALL OF THEM? I'll owe you a beer! :P

Ok.
First things first, tell your friend that performing the dead player recovery can render the player completely DEAD. He needs to know the risk and that if it does completely die, then it's not your fault. If he's willing to take the risk then you should do it. That will cover yourself.

Follow the Dead Player Recovery Guide and read the other posts. Best to sort the pins mentioned.

Well, finding the correct firmware is the hardest part as there are so many variations. You may get lucky and you may not. Also mention that there is a chance that you CAN'T recovery it either if you can't find the correct player. It doesn't really matter because right now it's dead anyway and useless right? At least what you're doing is attempting to get it back to life.

ID3 support, don't think it's possible. It depends on your player's firmware and what works on that player. The Actions chipsets don't have all the best features though unfortunately so you'll be lucky if you can find out that is going to give you ID3.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! It's the typical CHiPOD, so I wouldn't face any problems!
My friend will be very happy if I'll do it! :P  :P

And, here's your beer!

Open it up, find the board and display IDs, then search for working firmware.

If you are lucky, it'll be a relatively common model and you'll be able to find firmware easily, otherwise you might have to do some more work and maybe assemble your own firmware with the right drivers.
