Default Mp5 won't turn on...

Here is a picture of my Mp5 player:

I purchased this 2 months ago and it was working great. A couple of weeks ago I started to have a problem turning it on. At first it took a few attempts to activate it, then, with each passing day, it got worse until I was up to 100 attempts to turn it on. Finally it would no longer come on at all. Plugging in the USB cable doesn't activate it either.

It seems it's not the battery. If I attach the USB cable, the unit appears on my computer, but I cannot access the files. If I have the ear buds on when attempting to activate it, I can hear a brief faint electrical noise.

It's also doesn't appear to be the switch because once the unit would come on, the switch would function normally for all other tasks.

I opened the unit up, but saw no obvious problem. Does anyone have any advice?

hi Bill
How are you turning the player off?
I have this player and similar problems at first and found that if I leave the side on/off switch ON all the time and just use the top Play/pause button to switch it On and Off I get no problems and it allows the playlist to update when new files are added.

Its bad if you use the side On/Off switch to switch the unit Off it cuts the power so it's a bit like unplugging you PC when you have finished with it if you get what I mean, and the top button is a soft shutdown.

btw did you make a backup of your firmware?
If so you could try restoring that.

I've always used the top button. If it's firmware related, would it have acted perfectly fine once it was turn on?
