Default MP4 with startup problems but cannot identify manufacturer.

Hi People. I'm ReaperXL2 and I'm a new member posting a help request for the first time on this forum. I'm hoping somebody out there can help or at least shed some light on the problem for me.

I have an MP4 player with no manufacturer markings on the shell at all.
Various diagnostic apps identify the hardware as belonging to or manufactured by Action Semiconducter. the main IC is a samsung 64, K9AHG08U1? last digit is unreadable, PCB0. The IC next to it is TJ2091N. the radio IC identifier is also unreadable.

The problem is that when I power the unit On, I get an hourglass graphic on the screen which at first appears normal behaviour, but it then fails to go any further. every so often it will bootup fine and play as it should, until you switch the unit off, then boot failure rears its ugly head again.

Can somebody please help me with this problem.
I await your helpful suggestions or instructions.

Many thanks to all in advance.

Ps. Have got pictures but dont know how to show or post them on the site with my Questions.

Upload images to http://imageshack.us/ and post link here.

You have ATJ2091 CPU and probably K9HAG08U1M flash.

Connect it via USB to computer to power it on. If it boots to ADFU mode when it stays at hourglass but becomes U disk when it boots normally, then the flash is dying in the firmware area.

K9HAG08U1M is MLC DDP with only 1,500 program/erase cycles durability. It was not intended for U disk use. Compare with K9LAG08U1M (5,000 program/erase cycles, MLC QDP) and K9WAG08U1M (100,000 program/erase cycles, SLC DDP).
