Hourglass stuck on ipod

I do not know if this is the right place to inquire my problem. My sister-in-law gave a nanolike mp4 8gb from China.I download about 100+ songs on it as i started listening to my downloaded songs after about half an hour, it displayed an hourglass thing on a black screen background.
I searched over the net but i do not understand the whole process as i am a novice when it comes to software/hardware issues. When i plugged my ipod on the PC it cannot be detected i tried opening it through device manager and it is placed under the unknown device category.I tried opening the properties and it said the drivers for the device was not installed.
I do not know what is the first thing to do.Can i still recover my player?
Help is much appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Re: Hourglass stuck on ipod

Open the player, post board ID and CPU...

You will also need ADFU driver. Search this forum.

Vhone601,

If you follow the instructions & download the files from the links I provided you should have your MP3 back in action in 5mins.

G-TGS177SHOOS1221IPOD.rar ( it worked 4 me)

MP3 Player Utility 4.15 worked for me..

If you can't get your player to show up as ADFU device use the recovery guide..If it already shows up as an ADFU simply extract the firmware in a folder..
G-TGS177SHOOS1221IPOD.rar

extract the 4.15 tool

Then connect your device & open the tool & click on select firmware...select the one you EXTRACTED & click on update...

If the tool doesn't recogonize your player try the recovery guide for getting it into ADFU..

let us know how you make out..
