Hourglass stuck on ipod

I do not know if this is the right place to inquire my problem. My sister-in-law gave a nanolike mp4 8gb from China.I download about 100+ songs on it as i started listening to my downloaded songs after about half an hour, it displayed an hourglass thing on a black screen background.
I searched over the net but i do not understand the whole process as i am a novice when it comes to software/hardware issues. When i plugged my ipod on the PC it cannot be detected i tried opening it through device manager and it is placed under the unknown device category.I tried opening the properties and it said the drivers for the device was not installed.
I do not know what is the first thing to do.Can i still recover my player?
Help is much appreciated.Thank you in advance.

Re: Hourglass stuck on ipod

Open the player, post board ID and CPU...

You will also need ADFU driver. Search this forum.

I am not good with these things.I do not know how to do it.Please can you tell me step by step?where to download adfu.I have here RDiskUpdate.zip, ADFU XP.zip and driver ADFUUD sys.Of all these i only have the extension .inf and .sys.And I am getting confused sorry. And also my computer cannot recognize my player but it is under the device manager other device"unknown device".How to install ADFU driver using MP3 Utility 4.15?
thanks

ftanl 18th Feb 2009 12:30 pm

Vhone601,

If you follow the instructions & download the files from the links I provided you should have your MP3 back in action in 5mins.

G-TGS177SHOOS1221IPOD.rar ( it worked 4 me)

MP3 Player Utility 4.15 worked for me..

If you can't get your player to show up as ADFU device use the recovery guide..If it already shows up as an ADFU simply extract the firmware in a folder..
G-TGS177SHOOS1221IPOD.rar

extract the 4.15 tool

Then connect your device & open the tool & click on select firmware...select the one you EXTRACTED & click on update...

If the tool doesn't recogonize your player try the recovery guide for getting it into ADFU..

let us know how you make out..

vhone601 18th Feb 2009 9:52 pm

Was it because i am using Windows 2000?I tried installing AdfuUpdate.inf.I go to device manager/other device/unknown device then right click on it select properties/update drivers but it tells me no driver found. What's wrong?

ftanl 18th Feb 2009 10:08 pm

You have to find it yourself..don't let windows search for it..

Download the file & then update the ADFU driver.

vhone601 18th Feb 2009 10:12 pm

yes i had selected AdfuUpdate.inf to update my driver but it tells me no driver found.

vhone601 18th Feb 2009 11:07 pm

Using the tweezers, I am redirected to a Found new hardware wizard clicking next/search for a suitable driver for my device/next/select location. Then i am required to insert the manufacturers installation disk into the drive selected then i can click OK.My problem is, i do not have the disk. The Adfu driver i have is the one i downloaded from this site.
What am i suppose to do?
