dead player rk2706
hi
I've read all related forums the last week and didn't find a solution. I bought this player and it crashed. Nevertheless i have access to the hidden partition. I also saved my firmware before the crash. When i restore it, it has no effect and the player does not function. I can restore other firmwares but these doesn't function as they should (no touch screen possibility). I don't get a decent answer on my question to the seller for the right firmware? Does anyone have it or is there another solution? Hope someone can help. hereby the link with foto : ebay mp5 player |
how are you "restoring the player"
are you just copying the original files over to the player?? |
Re: dead player rk2706
hi
thanks for the reaction i executed rk27dm.exe with different rkw files (ramos970 en rk2706sdk). After that i copy rkusb.tag to the 8GB partition and reconnect the player. I see then the hidden partition. Then i copy the 4 folders from different sources to this partition and restart. I did this with my original backup wich gave no results. ALso with some other sets of 4 folders (downloaded from this site). These give me a screen with 9 icons (music, foto and so on). But i cannot use the touch function so i cannot choose any item. WIth one specific set of folders i had a start screen with touch function but the screen was scrambled so thsi won't help me either. danny |
the problem here is that some RKW firmwares have some deep boot code in them that can set up your player incorrectly for thew original firmware
you see for some updates you can do it on the player, for more complex updates where some major code has changed that alter the boot record of the player the tool is needed in this case you have loaded RKW files that have changed some core boot code in yur player and this is why you now can not use your original files all i can suggest is you try other RKW files, maybe an older rkw from a few months back through the tool and then try to copy over your files also if all else fails you may need to do a hard reset by opening the player and shorting out the memory chip, this may clear out the player completely also try this tool, its a cleaner tool to clear up the hidden partition, try it on your player then copy back your original files a tutorial is here http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7737 the tool is called the onda cleaner tool, it cant hurt to try |
Re: dead player rk2706
hi
i did all you advised but nothings changed. I can put different firmwares on it with each its own looks but no touch-function. danny |
maybe we need to construct a hybrid firmware with parts of your old one and one that works and make a new rkw file to try have not got time now but the tool ar on m44nations forums

Re: dead player rk2706
hi mak
looks quite complicated. there's a thing that bothers me : i can install 2 or 3 firmware that look allright. Just the touch function is missing. When i push the on-button quickly the menu jumps to the next hierarchical item and so on till the last item in that specific menu-tree. So I think it's just a matter of firmware. Is it possible to create a RKW-file from my original set of 4 folders? |
what you could try first is to install one that part works, then copy oever and replace some of the diels in tehre with your originals
so find the files called BASE.RKW from yourr and replace it on the player find a file called BMP0.BMP from yours and replace it on the player reboot and see what happens |
Re: dead player rk2706
based upon your hint i see now that i'm missing the bmp0.bin file in my backup of my player!

ahhh big problem there as this is what displays all the images how this can be missing is a mystery as its embeded in a foilder called "resource" --> "BID" have you has a look on there
