half the screen has gone white

I turned on my new MP4 player today but only half the menu page is displayed.The only icon showing that works is the radio page but unfortunately the music and video selection is in the part of the menu page not showing(which is just white).I tried reformatting but this did not solve the problem.I tried in the systems page to set defaults but this did nothing also.Any ideas
