Try o f0 24 and then o f2 24. Then, o f2 0 should turn it back off. If your backlight doesn't turn on or off, then I will be quite surprised. You might have one of the rare devices which need two I/O ports to control the backlight.

In case you're wondering why I'm making you do this, it's essential to figure out what the connectivity of the hardware is before we can find a proper firmware, and the first thing to check is how the backlight is connected.

o f0 24 causes no reaction, o f2 24 causes the white light to go on and o f2 0 to go off again; still the only thing that makes the blacklight go on is what I said about try to recharge the battery, but that doesn't seems to indicate anything useful, right?

Correct, that just enables the outputs (GPIO B2 and B5)

That's great, because that is the backlight you're turning on and off!

Now that we know that BO-25002 needs 2 control lines for the backlight, this matches up with the entries in the connectivity database that I have and we can assume that the other lines to the display (reset and A0) are connected the same. You shall thus try this firmware:

Didn't worked. This firmware only makes the light go on and off like an emergency light; and the device is not recognized in any way by the CPU.

Do you get an hourglass?

According to what what we've done with s1giveio, your hardware connectivity is exactly what I should expect that firmware to work for. That is, unless your display controller is not really what I assume is in a TGS177SH00 (Sitronix ST77xx/"Big Philips"-style controller) from inspecting other firmware for the same display type.

If you want, we can use s1giveio to figure out controller type too.

Now that you mention it, I hadn't ever got an hourglass on this device; on the recovery dead player guide, it shows a picture which indicates that at one of the steps, the hourglass should appear, but in my case all I got was the same white screen and nothing else.
And yes, please, lets use the s1giveio to figure out the kind of controller.
My only other option is a travel to China.

Unhappy My MP player is not working

My MP is a nano clone i think. I have look for the firmware but cant find it. My problem is that when I try to open the music files the pl;ayer restarts. Before that happened it did opened but claimed the disk was empty, but I could see the music file but all i can see int it was chinnese letters. The software cd that came with the player is corrupted. Any help is appreciated.
This is the firmware according to the player. TY.

So, this is it? There is no way to fix the darn thing, eh?
I guess this is the right time to give up.
Thanks anyway.
