windows doesn't pick it up since the first 20 minutes.

I got it to pick it up accidentally once by shorting pins out.. but it picked it up as some other weird device. So when I shorted stuff out, usb got fooled and the bits got mished and mashed.

I just had to join to say - I got it to reset and detect after it died! It dropped from a 16gb to a 2gb ... I had to short the pins at the bottom, near the reset button. There's a little black chip with four pins on each side, I ran a paperclip down the left hand side, hit reset with it plugged into my computer, and it showed up as a rock-somethingorother usb device. Formatted as FAT, and was able to copy stuff to it after that. Keep you posted on details!

Just hit reset again - and it was detected, and the screen came on after many many weeks of it being very dead!!!

Not sure, it's got a silver bezel and three buttons underneath the rizone logo. Do you have a headphone jack at the bottom of your player? It's on the side opposite the headphone jack. In mine, there is a speaker smack right in the middle-bottom of the board, it is just to the right of the speaker.

mine has microSD card slot, usb, and headphone at the bottom. microSD slot is underneath rizone logo. Guess we could take pictures or find some on the net

take off the back - if it is dead, you have nothing to lose. I'll take a picture of my board and highlight where I shorted later today. It was a little chip, marked LN4890 (i think), with 4 pins on each side.
