Exclamation Help please! RockChip RK2706, RockUSB won't work

OK, so I don't know what happened; I edited the strings so the English translation would be better and now it doesn't work.
Summary:
1. I backed up the original firmware partition. (yay)
2. I edited firmware text and uploaded it to my player.
3. It stopped working.
4. The firmware is not an rkw or rfw, but four folders and a RKFSWFRC.FRC file.
5. I tried starting RockUSB over and over again, but it didn't start.
6. When I use RK27DM.exe, my player either disconnects in the middle and/or displays "The player can not be disconnected from the PC. Please remove the player manually."
7. Whenever I plug in the player (I think), a 8196KB file (RKLOG000.DAT) and a 2KB file (RKLOG000.TXT) are generated.
8. It is a 3" 16:9 screen player, , held horizontally, with [<<] [M] [>>] buttons along the bottom and play/pause and V buttons along the top edge. The hardware ID is 120___ (something). The firmware version is 1.2, BASE.RKW is dated 4/16/08.

What I think I'm supposed to do:
1. Put into RockUSB mode by holding menu for a few seconds and plugging the player in to the USB, or run RK27DM.exe with any RKW file. (It doesn't work)
2. Use this upgrade tool: Download to put the files onto the player.
3. Format main memory to FAT32.

If this doesn't work, I'll try to do the hardware recovery. Edit: I don't think this works without RKWs or RFWs.

Any tips, hints, help? I REALLY need it quickly because I'm leaving for a trip tomorrow, and I'll need it for the plane.

Just copy a file called rkusb.tag to the root of the main drive of the player then shutdown player, disconnect and reconnect the player.

This should open a firmware partition about 60mb, just copy your 4 folders to that and restart the player/

It doesn't work. The firmware partition does not show up. The player has a MiniSD card slot, and even the SD drive doesn't show up. The screen hasn't lit up since it died.

EDIT: I got it working using this: RockChip RK27SDK Recovery Guide
There were two things wrong, I think. One, the .rkw file used in RK27DM.exe was wrong; I downloaded the one from the guide mentioned above. Second, my RockUSB driver wasn't installed correctly.
