White screen means it's updated ok but it's the wrong firmware for the player, you need to try a different one until you find one that works. Firmware files should always end .rfw.

Well, you have been very helpful and although I'm not one to give up without a fight, this one might have got me beat. I have tried a range of firmware, each time the utilities tells me the firmware update has been successful but I unplug the player from the usb, try to turn it on and nothing powers up. Of course, plug it back into the usb, the white screen reappears, then I have to do the shorting of the pins hard reset. Unless anyone can help me with the firmware for the machine, the image being on my first post. It's a 2.8 touch screen, 8gb, Rockchip 2608a. When the screen did work it said something like "mini mp4 player" and said "goodbye" on power down. In fact, that was the last thing it said to me. I actually bought one for my son, is there anyway of getting the firmware out of his and onto mine???

Sorry but we don't have a firmware extractor so it's best not to mess with your son's player, you don't want 2 dead players.

Did you try this firmware/:-

There a also another at the end of the comments thread on the same page you could try too.

You deserve your valued member status. Thank you, I will try this when I get back from work and let you know. The descriptive looks promising and I'll take your advice on my son's player.

Hello, again. I just wanted to say thank you so much for your help. Despite all your effort, I've been unable to find any firmware that works so I'm now officially giving up on this. Lesson is: Don't panic!!
