I have what looks like the exact same player I turned it on for the first time in about 3 weeks and it let me go to the system screen. I managed to find the software version before it whitescrened on me

Hope this helps in your search, i'm still trying to find the firmware i need. will try my 'chiPod' again later and have the firmware download software open at the same time so that I can try and get it off, reset then upload again.
