Default ACU7515 player: PCB B729-v2, LCD K-M020T2-04

Hi,

I've got a generic MP4 player I brought from ebuyer a couple of years ago and the firmware is slowly getting unusable, it's now started playing through the built in speaker even when headphones are pluged in. Below is all the information that I've collected from the player software and taking it apart.

Firmware
2006/05/17
9.1.52

B729N4XV2.0
2007/08/20

PCB
B729-v2

LCD
GK-M020T2-04

CPU
ACU7515

So far the most promising looking firmware I've found is:
Google Translate

If I can backup my firmware then I could give that a go. The player looks nothing like mine, but if the screen is the same then hopefully it's only the keys which might be wrong. I've got no idea what the firmware looks like, but do you think it would be possible to pull the key layout from my player and use that with the firmware in the link?

That is a hardware problem. Firmware will not fix this. Check the contacts in the headphone socket.

I also thought that, but when I select the radio doesn't play through the speaker, or is that wired directly to the headphone socket?

I'll have a poke with my multimeter and see what I find .

Thanks lolita. I took the play apart again and as soon as I moved the internal speaker to one side I could see one of the solder joints on the headphone socket had gone. I've re-soldered it and it now works like a charm , it must have been the cable detect.
