My player recently bricked on me without much warning. It won't turn on at all, not even when plugged in (an image of a USB cable used to come up when plugged into the computer). I've tried adding rkusb.tag but nothing happens. I had it modded earlier to show the firmware partition, but now it only shows the drive partition. As it is, it only works as an 8gb flash drive. When I run the RK27DM Repair Tool, it will detect the player, attempt to access the information, then do nothing. If I select the firmware, it says "Firmware Newer than that of Player" or something to that extent, but the Update and Restore buttons are grayed out and there is nothing in the Player "Version" and "Loader" boxes.

You could try this to recover your player and create a custom .rkw firmware:-
