Smile generating database message

hello there,
its really good to find a source of info that gives a positive spin on knackered mp3 / 4 players. I have one such machine which is not working I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on a fix ....... the only info I have on the manufacturer is the description from my ebay purchase on 16th feb 2010 it is a total chrome metal case with a 3" screen and that says 16gb touch screen mp3 mp4 camera DV RMVP player 16G.5V.
it worked great until I tried to delete a mp3 track from it . now it will not get past the screen saying " generating database", when I plug it into my computer I get the welcome screen and then it just locks on the generating database message, the computer will not detect it unless I hold the on off switch over onto the on position and also hold down the button at the bottom of the case at that point it then locks on the wecome screen and I can see the icon in my computer which identifies it as an unknown object....any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

this is absolutley the calling card of going past the real memory, it replaced the songs because they dont exist.
