Adapt Mx adpp - 305 Pocket projector Firmware fix
Hi all, after much searching and reading this forum I have managed to fix my problem with the Adapt Mx 305 projector.
I bought the projector only a few days ago, when my new toy arrived I decided to upgrade the internal Mx mp4 player with the Adapt instructions and files...big mistake! After this the player wouldn't work at all. At the time I hadn't even heard of Mx player of any kind. In my search to fix I came across this forum, so as a thanks and to help the many people I found have the same problem I thought I would post here. The fix is easy when you have the right tools...finding them took me some time as I had to learn everything from scratch! To update the firmware Adapt instructions are to put rkusb.tag file into the storage of the device then disconnect/reconnect to pc which then will show the hidden partition. then they ask you to format the system partition to 60mb. and copy over the 4 new folders. Simple. After this for me, and many others online, the Mp4 didn't work. it seems the Adapt are not interested that the instructions they give may break the machine, they give no warnings about formatting either drive and have not replied in there own forum about the issue. After taking the machine apart to identify the chip I can tell you it is an RK2706B which helped in finding the right tools. During the process of trying to fix the player I deleted and wiped both partitions. not a smart move, dont do this! Instructions to fix the player with links to the tools below, for me the key part of this process was finding THIS thread and many thanks to knob for his post there, without it I would have failed, thanks mate. Tools needed: Pc running XP - (tried for about 4 hours on a windows 7 machine...don't bother) RK restore Kit Output files from adapt RK27SDK_NEW Instructions: First download the tools and files above and unzip to a folder where you like. Take RK27SDK folder and place at the root of your system drive on your PC - C:\RK27SDK Replace the 4 firmware folders in C:\rk27sdk_new\Output with the Output files from adapt. Run C:\rk27sdk_new\Resource\bin\setup.bat Look for your RK27SDK.RKW in C:\rk27sdk_new\Resource copy this file over to the folder you unzipped the tools to earlier(just so you can find it) Open RK restore Kit and under new firmware information click the radio button to the right find the .rkw file you just created and select it. Now you must press the Restore button which will run a process to restore the player's partitions and and install the firmware! this will take a few minutes, wait until it says completed you may now unplug your player. Switch on the projector and hold the play button for 3 seconds and the MP4 player should boot, happy days! I hope this works for you, now I'm off to see what I can mod on it, maybe make the volume louder and change the graphics a bit! Happy flashing |
I was gob-smacked when i saw this, didn't know any devices were still sold using rk2705/6 chips,
let alone projectors! The interface is identical to the portable music player, amazing! Yes you can edit BMP0.BIN if you want to change the wallpaper. |

Its such a weird setup in there, the projector can be used in vga or composite mode without the need to boot the rockchip, but to view Mp4,avi, wmv etc you have to boot the rk2706 , so its like having 2 separate devices. it confused me for nearly a whole weekend!! If I hadn't found your post I would never have done it. Are there any other mods I can make to the performace or additional features that you know of? EDIT: Do you know where I can find the firmware for the player you mention above? I have search but cant find screen shots to match what I have. Looking for version 3.0 as I have version 2.2 according to RKtools! any advice would be much appreciated. |
