Hi.
My device is a ipod nano 3rd generation 8Gb (fake) and it look like this

When I opened the device, after a long time in which I didn't use it, I found that the device remains blocked on the screen with the hourglass.
Click the image to open in full size.

Then I connected the device to the PC and the player was detected as a "Universal Serial Bus controllers\Unknown Device".
After I searched, on the internet, solutions to my problem I found it is possible that device database become corrupted and to correct this I have to format the device.

To find the correct drivers and firmware I disassembled my device and I identified the following:
CHIP 1:
HUNIX KOR
HY27UT088G2A
TPCB 806AA
M8XJ5049AJ
CHIP 2:
AK 1025
6AU31AB OAQ
CHIP 3:
SP3767AHN
Q7LT35
Click the image to open in full size.

I found and installed 2 windows drivers for my device:
1. S1MP3 ADFU Device
2. USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device

1. When I installed first driver (S1MP3 ADFU Device), the device appear under the "Device and Printers" category as "S1MP3 ADFU Device", but it is not available as a removable storage disk.

A. At first I try to use "MP3 Player Upgrade Tool" to upgrade the device firmware, hoping that after this I can detect the device as a removable storage disk and than I can format it.
At opening "MP3 Player Utilities 4.05-> MP3 Player Upgrade Tool" application throw the following error message and it stops.
"Device not detected!"
B. I try to use s1clone, version 21.
- I select option "Read flash-image from s1mp3 player"
- I check option "Format disk" and press "Next" button
- application starts, enter in the "Processing operation..." mode, the format fail and application throw the error message "The system cannot write to the specified device" and it stops, just like in the following image
Click the image to open in full size.

This is the complete log throw by the application:
format disk...
The system cannot find the file specified.
error: failed to format disk.
open device:\\.\libusb0-0001--0x10d6-0xff66
device is in recovery state!
v-9 device detected!
giveio version:3.1
open flash at cs-line 1...
flash-chip: A514D3AD "HYNIX/SAMSUNG 1024MB (LBF)" (protected=0)
create file: d:\test.bin.s1clone
start reading flash...
The system cannot write to the specified device.

2. When I installed second driver (USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device), the device appear under the "Device and Printers" category as "USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device", but it is not available as a removable storage disk.

A. At first I try to use "MP3 Player Upgrade Tool" to upgrade the device firmware, hoping that after this I can detect the device as a removable storage disk and than I can format it.
- I've opened "MP3 Player Utilities 4.05-> MP3 Player Upgrade Tool" application.
- At opening appear this message
"It is recover state, and select the firmware file for recovering please!".
- After confirming and selecting the file containing the device firmware the application open and then I press the "Recover firmware" button.
- After that application throw the following error message and it stops.
"Read or write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting!"
Click the image to open in full size.

B. I try to use s1clone, version 21.
- I select option "Read flash-image from s1mp3 player"
- I check option "Format disk" and press "Next" button
- application starts, enter in the "Processing operation..." mode, the format fail and application remains stacked after the line "open device:\\?\usb#vid_10d6&pid_ff66#...", just like in the following image
Click the image to open in full size.

Neither of the two drivers solutions tried by me succeeds, the problem still being maintained, device hanging at startup in the hourglass image.

If someone can help me I would be grateful.
Thank you.

I have solved the problem that I had and now my player IS BACK TO LIVE.

The windows driver I used for my IPOD device it was "USB ADFU Device", and it is available in the instalation directory of the application "MP3 Player Utilities 4.15-> MP3 Player Upgrade Tool".
I used "MP3 Player Utilities 4.15-> MP3 Player Upgrade Tool" and I restored the firmware "G-TGS177SHOOS1221IPOD.fw" (firmware was downloaded from your site, and containd the version AK1025 9.1.52).
Obs.: Don't use any kind of usb cable extension cord, because than it will appear the following error message: "Read or write device information failed! Please exit the program and check if device is connecting!".

Now my player is back to live, even more I had updated the implicit menu with one of my own using the application "s1res_v41_win32_setup.exe".

Thanks to all who post piece of solutions that others can use in order to fix their own problems that they encounter.

Please excuse my english, but it is not my native language.

That's great to hear that you've relived your player!

Can you share us the menu you create and what it looks like?
Are you also able to UPLOAD it to MyMPx.org as well and share it with other users?
