Default firmware help

hi all

I'm afraid need you guys help...

I bought this: http://www.pcexporters.com/members/h...roduct_id=4322

Click the image to open in full size.

some specs:
it looks like an ipod touch
opened it up
found it had a rockchip rk2608 A-B
the player model is CVAAL-118
manufacturing code: AMUW676RMBSW

some other chip numbers:
hynix HY27UUO8AG5M TPCB 751A
hynix HY57V161610010 (not sure of the last two digits)

now my problem: the language.

I bought this one, and my internet seller told me it had the dutch language on it. RIGHT

so i did the next best thing: i searched google for the player specs and on, i send an e-mail to the company in china,... no response
so i found your site, and hoped you really could help me
but i can't seem to find a working tool to extract the firmware from the chip or a how-to edit the firmware

i used to have an (original) ipod mini 4gb with gold cover, and i was able to change the language of that device through the official updater. but with this mp4 player, i just can't find a way.

can anybody tell me how to get the firmware off the device to edit it?

i already tried these things:
turn the device off
press the menu button
while pressing and holding the button connect the usb wire
but then my pc just didn't found the device in my computer or anything
so i downloaded s1fwx_v26 and opened it, said there was no device found
so i restarted the player, putted it in his main menu and then plugged in the wire, restarted extract.bat but: same warning...

can anybody help me to translate the language to mine?

thnx in advance

If the language you want is not on the player there is nothing you can do about it- I would request a refund.

Rockchip Players Firmware can not currently be extracted but I have read that DanceMammal is working on an extractor.

Gatorxeon,
please read this thread on another forum. vx858 firmware. if your mp4 is working, do not upgrade. firstly, try vx858 firmware with new menu (v.1.10_newmenu). good luck

thx for the tip unsal, but unfortunately none of the 2 firmware's work
the v1.10 gave me a nice screen, but when i touch the screen, it says that the device is blocked (key block or something like every cell phone)
so the other one gave me a menu in chinese, and the touchscreen didn't work as well
i'm gonna try to find some more info on this forum, i thought i've read something about someone having the firmware i need, except the game (but game... care )

Gatorxeon,
MP4-En-V1.10_newmenu.rfw worked for my player. The theme pictures was modified by some members. That shows that my player is compatible with vx858. you can try vx858LE firmwares. when I uploaded the firmware VX858_v0.0.21_newmenu.rfw, I got the same result as you got.

unsal and other members participating in this topic: thank you so much for leading me to the rescue of my mp4 player

my thanks specially goes out to Hotboxx
how sent me a pm with the link of the working firmware
it was here:

http://www.tinydeal.com/catalog/soft...b2226af9f428a4

and my firmware was this one:
PG_Rockchip Upgrade.zip - For (PG5) 2.8", Firmware upgrade tool for Rockchip player, firmware version HTC-039C-MLC-080111-EN-2.0V.

so, mine is back working again (thanks to the dead rockchip guide and the pm with the right firmware)

thanks to all

grtz
a happy gatorxeon

Dear Gatorxeon and the others,

I have more or less the same problem.

I have the same device with RK2608A Rockchip.

Unfortunately I've updated with this firmware : Firmware Onda VX858 v00.00.0017 + skin Vista ".

After that I've got a Chinese menu on blue background but the icons are not working. When I tap the screen, it seems the device is locked, and nothing works only shows a folder icon.

So I can't set it to ROCK USB mode to upload a new firmware.

I see the drive icon in My Computer, so I can copy the things, but nothing else.

I've tried the 10 sec solution, but doesn't work. I've also tried the "DEAD PLAYER RECOVERY GUIDE" without success...

Is there anyone who met the same problem and solved it please ?

Regards,
Gabor
