Default speaker does not work when it's in FM mode

Last month, I bought an MP4 here in the Philippines. It's manufactured and sold by CD-R King. It's a RockChip MP4... I have read from the computer (safely removing the device)..

I like the MP4.. It can play FLV and most file type (no conversion needed). It can recognize jpeg bmp and other formats. It can play music while browsing the e-book or pictures. It has a background and I can select between 8 wallpapers.
It has a wide screen: 2.8" 16:9 aspect ratio screen.

It has a glitch though.. The speaker does not work when it's in FM mode, only in mp3 or movie mode.

When I found out that there is a firmware extractor and editor, I downloaded them. I want to personalize the MP4 by changing the wallpapers. I want that the wallpapers are my pictures with my friends. Unfortunately, the extractor can't recognize the MP4. I tried the extractor with my MP3 and my classmate's MP3, it worked.

What will I do? I know that this problem is not a problem at all but I just want to find out if there's a slution..

Here is the product site of the MP4:

The FM radio only works with the earphone plugged in, it's not a glitch it's a feature of nearly all these players, the long flex acts as an antenna for the radio.

Your player could be one of the new Rockchip RK27xx series, please can you post a real photo of how the music menu looks.

Does it look like this:-
Click the image to open in full size.

If it is a RK27xx player, i can show where to get an extractor.

Thank you for your quick response.
Thank you for that new info that FM only works with earphones.
I can't post a picture of the music menu of my MP4 as of the moment. Maybe tomorrow. The hardware looks just like your MP4 but not the menu screen. Maybe the manufacturer put a different firmware.
Thanks anyway.. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Can you lead me to the firmware extractor that you were telling me? I will try if it will work. Have you found an editor for the new firmware?
Thank you very much.

Yes the extractor here :-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/firmware-...s-vt10856.html

To upload your extracted firmware go to this page:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/dload.php
Then click on the drop down "Select a category", scroll down to "uploads by members" and press enter, then at the top of the screen you will see an "Upload" button, then just click on it to go to the upload screen, and please remember to include a photo of your player.

Yes, there is an editor a link is here:-

I'm sorry I can't post a picture of my MP4.
I'll just describe my MP4.
Specs:
*2.8" TFT LCD; 16:9 aspect ratio
*no clock
*can play rmbv, avi, flv and maybe other video formats (no conversion needed)
*can play mp3, wav and other formats
*can play music while reading e-book or browsing the pictures
*Has 8 Menus: Music, Video, Photo, E-Book, FM, Record, Explorer and Settings
*the Music Menu has submenus: All music, Album, Singer, Favorite (although I don't know how to assign a song as favorite), Directory
*when playing music right after plugging the MP4 to a pc, it will update the medialib.
*the songs are listed in alphabetical order, except in directory mode.
*the display while playing a song is just like the pic you've posted but the frequency graph is smaller and the other texts are located on the top. The max volume is 32.
*the MP4 can also display ID3 or lyrics.
*the background image is different. My MP4 has 8 background images but they are all flowers and butterflies. This is what I want to change.

I've tried the extractor but it did not work.
How many times do I have to try? Does it require patiece? I've tried it only once.
Is it ok if I just open the folder but not through Windows Explorer?
Will there be a new device that the pc will detect and assign a letter?

Maybe the manufacturer used the same technology but different firmware. Is this possible? Because the start-up image is the name of the manufacturer and distributor.

Maybe it's not really an RK27xx MP4. Thank you for your help.

If your music playing screen is like this:-
Click the image to open in full size.

Then your player is definetely one of the new rk27xx series and they have all the features you describe, with 8 backgrounds.

Yes, windows should assign the next drive letter to the firmware partition, it is slow to appear. (about 10 seconds). a couple of tries should be enough, but you have to disconnect the usb and shut down the player between each try and did you remember to copy rkusb.tag to the root of the player's main memory?

I have tried your firmware extractor KNOB but it does not do anything. Maybe the manufacturer disabled that feature or maybe my MP4 is not really RK27xx. But I'm pretty sure it's Rockchip because it's what it says when I "safely remove the hardware".

Well, Thank you for your help.. I appreciate it. Good work on that extractor and editor even though I have not tried it.

I've asked a copy of the firmware of my MP4 from the manufacturer but they did not reply to my email. Are they obliged to give me a copy of the firmware? They just sell their stuff but they do not provide any firmware or post any firmware update in their website. They just want our money.

your player is definately a new rockchip

the rkusb.tag should have worked as it is the generic one for new rockchip players

Maybe the factory decided to call it different name, for instance teclast call theirs "teclast.sys", so it may be possible that either the factory or cdrking have had that renamed, but its a small details and not sure they would have done this but they must have done otherwise it would work

BTW, Pasen in china were the first to bring out this model called the F12, but they have no firmware to download
http://www.pasen88.cn/window.asp?id=212

This really should work
BTW what OS are you using, i think Vista may have probs or 64 bit may also be a prob, this really should work

Knob, I have read you topic about renaming the rkusb.tag. Maybe that is the reason that your extractor is not working with my MP4. I have tried renaming it but it still did not work. I will look for miracles that will make me rename it correctly and be able to extract the firmware.

Hello knob. I'm back with a very big problem.

I was researching for our project. I've plugged the MP4 to the pc for less than an hour. It was performing just fine. I've transferred files to the MP4 (huge amount of information). When I safely removed the divice, the MP4 fells so hot. The screen went red. I turned off the MP4. When I plugged the MP4 to the pc again, there is a message "Cannot Open... Needs to be Reformatted" or something like that. I reformatted the device even if I cannot recover the files anymore. There was also another removable disk with 59MB of memory (I guess it's what you are saying that contains the firmware). It's also corrupted and I reformatted it. After that, the device does not turn on anymore but it can still be used as removable device.
Please help..
If you can, please send me the full firmware of the MP4 that you have posted first (Ramos 970). You can send it to me (petz629@yahoo.com). You can send it in 10-MB zip. I will just extract it to the MP4. I will see if it will work to my MP4. If not, it will be dead until the right firmware is available. You can also send me firmwares of MP4 that fits the specifics I've posted before.
Thank you very much.

If you have firmwares for me, please send.
