PC shows installing USB hardware but fails

hello, i have a sony mp4 1gb. when i connect it to pc it shows installing usb hardware but failed to find.. and mp3 player utilities 10.00 is not installing on my pc. it show fatal error. and somebody can tell which firmware is suitable for my player.? i know nothing abt model number of my player and same abt firmwares..plzzz help..........

Has this just started happening or has it always been a problem?
Try a different USB cable instead and see if that helps. Sometimes a faulty USB cable can cause this problem because one of the pins on the USB cable is faulty so your computer can't detect it properly.
