I'm so not techy and have been working on this stupid mp 3/4 player for about 2 years now. I think I've read enough here to know that I need the firmware for my device. The disk that came in the box is not being read by my computer at all.
The player I have says it is a SYMEX and it is from China... from looking at the older version of this forum and online, it looks most like this player found at this link

I am pretty sure its a rock chip player (but have no clue what that means!) and when I searched the forum I see that there are loads of possible drivers I could download to make this thing work. But when I look at the pictures they look quite different!
Anyhow, I have got the FM radio to kind of work, I can get it to show pictures, kind of can listen to music, definitely can't get it to play avi files (and realize from reading here and at the older forum that this seems to be normal for this kind of player)... hmm... That's about all I know.
I would really like to get this going. I bought this from someone and they assured me it worked and I now know I payed too much for it and was 'had' so I'd really like to be able to get it to work.
Hmm, I don't know if it matters, but I have a ASUS computer running XP... Anyhow thanks for any help because I feel completely confused!
