At least, that's what I thought. Already in contact with uxcell what to do, distortion stays on the radio while recording and while charging.

Re: How about your Glacier player?

i've got a brand new Glacier from ebay.
1gb black (screen is 2" 230x175)

sorry that you only have one game :(

mine has this list of games in the "games" menu:

- "Russia block" (fun tetris game) has the "pressing wrong button exits to menu" problem
- "Huarong Road" (some crazy chinese game i never understood how to play)
- "Move Box" (fun puzzle game with a picture of a cool car )
- "Snake" (just like on old nokia phones)

i love the player and the battery life is really long but the videos lag because of the giant screen size and the welcome and good-bye logos are REALLY stupid and i would like to change them i tried the s1fwx and s1res , it successfully makes a dump but repair won't "repair" it and s1res says "....incorrect format" also i just got it so i really REALLY don't want to risk to kill it with the wrong firmware just because of the logos...

problem is im a real noob in this i've already killed 2 pc's, 1 mp3 and one phone with different attemps on changing the BIOS/Firmware...
so please give some help/advise before I attempt something dumb...

I guess the firmware is to new to be supported by the latest s1fwx and s1res. We have to wait for an update. What firmware version do you have? Here:
9.0.48
ACT2097_S75
date: 2006/06/12

Re: How about your Glacier player?

in the mp4 there's a menu that tells you the firmware version 8) mine is :

2006/10/30
9.0.50
ACT2097_S75
2006/06/12

I really have to wait for the new hack tools??

but Im almost sure that the seller from ebay updated the firmware why can't I change the "welcome" and "Bye Bye" bitmaps...

Re: How about your Glacier player?

            I'm going CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Started up my Glacier, no Uxcell screen, but an hourglas, and that's how it stays. Windows finds new hardware when connecting to usb, but it doesn't take the adfuUpdate.inf, says the files has no information for the hardware, at least, close to that. I tried the method described, through device manager.
Oh well, I have another one.
So took the other one out of the box, connected it to the usb, put some more music on, ejected the p:/ drive, which it is, connected the phones, browsed to the music and PUFFFFF away goes the screen, never to be seen again. Windows shows it still as a drive, as 2 drives actually, of which one is accesable. The battery is full, does nothing on a charger. No sound at all.
2 dead players :x :x
This is too much for a single brain!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How about your Glacier player?

I think my player is not from uxcell at all (no uxcell screen at startup just an ugly animated character and a colorful moving WeLcOmE text.) The player's shape, battery, features and menu stuff are exactly the same as on the one from Uxcell so i still hope some1 can help me with changing the firmware.

shiiiit how can 2 players randomly kill themselves just like that?

and I thought I had a bad day... well, there's always worse...
...your computer explodes in your face then your house is on fire and you lose all your stuff and then randomly get arrested by the police and the car driving you to the prison crashes and you die .. just joking lol

LOL, seen it happening, fork fell on the floor right in the cat's tail, cat jumped up and took the table cloth with it on the way down, olive oil on the table rolled right over the carpet all the way to the fire place, Whoooshhhh If filmed it would have given me the funniest home video $25.000 award, alas..
Got one glacier off the hour glass (or is it: even the hour glass isn't showing any longer), and could install the afdu update driver, from a downloaded program called mp3 player product tools 4.19.
Not much more I can do about it but wait for Uxcell to answer.

Re: How about your Glacier player?

sorry to hear that, the Glacier is really good player (for me it works wothout any problems) also i found another 3.7v nokia battery in my basement and it works just fine just like the battery that came with the player ! lucky me 8) just one problem is the system clock resets when the battery is removed but i never use that anyway. so now i got twice the play time when there's no computer around (when there's a computer I can always charge it cuz I use the mp4 as a flash drive for my documents so I carry the wire with me)

about the cat jumping on table cloth,
I remember a tv commercial where a woman was watching tv and suddenly, she dropped the remote on the plate, it falls from the table on the cat, the cat jumps on the curtain that falls from the window in the aquarium and breaks it, the water falls on the electricity plug that breaks the TV and the lights, then on air-conditioning which falls outside of the house on her car and the car alarm goes on ... all that in a few seconds
I think it was a commercial for Tylenol or something about headaches
it was about a year ago but it was truly hilarious. that woman really needs Tylenol now

Re: How about your Glacier player?

I think I kill my Glacier. I got a problem that it appears "Wrong file format" when ever the second AMV file is loaded, which means Glacier can only exist one AMV file. If I tried to load two or more AMV files (each files is about 400 Mb), the second one can not be played. To test this, I formated many times to get rid of folders that created automatically (It always creats subfolders). Then, somehow I found my player has a capacity of 228Mb instead of 1.9GB. What does it imply, I kill the player?...........
