Battery won't charge on new osmium player 2gb [SOLVED]

I received an i-nickel 2gb player after xmas w/ the same problem - not charging on the charger or usb.
Contacted uxcell and customer service and they gave me some things to try which didn't work and later they said to return it for evaluation and if found defective they'd send another. I found shipping charges would be about $30 USD. I contacted customer service again asking if I would be reimbursed for return shipping and if I wasn't then could they just send a battery.
Got an email today saying they were sending the battery.

oh that sounds like a good idea, I'm gonna go ahead and do that bc mine was $68, and $30 is like half the price.

also my brother's mirage player refused to charge a week after we got them, so shipping them over there would cost too much money. my order number is Order ID: ORD20061218025 if they can at all see this forum. I sent the email tonight asking for the batteries. thanks all for the replies so far
