Battery won't charge on new osmium player 2gb [SOLVED]

I got the Osmium 2gb player from uxcell for christmas and after first opening, it has refused to charge by neither provided charger nor usb from computer Mobo. I've already emailed uxcell. my Ticket# is 2006122610004824. and got a reply the 26th of dec but they just told me to charge it for 12 hours and put the switch in the on position. which I was already doing. I have also left it charging for days on end from both comp and mains but the problem persists.

I know that there was an earthquake in asia and all but I was wondering if I would get a faster reply posting here since, If I read correctly, this site is sponsored by them.

Like I was saying my player works wonderfully when connected to a power source. when I disconnect it immediately says "low battery and shuts down.

BTW: the slider is always on the "on" position.

I would appreciate very much any help I can get here.

Omniwolf , i guess the battery most likely is dead and does not hold it's charge well.
Two solutions, either change the battery yourself or wait for them to reply and get an exchange set.

I am too waiting for their reply regarding my order not yet received. Maybe just give them a couple more days.

HI, I suggest ebay, there are a couple of different vendors on there selling Nano replacements for good prices, beware  one in particular (Ricky_W_Lam) states his is a 400mAH and the images only show it is still a 330mAh (whats with some of these sellers??) I assume he is a con merchant??He would not answer my question about that fact???
Otherwise Uxcell have one for a nano under the ipod section and click on the replacement battery icon and check it out!! good price but I am a bit wary now  as to the quality.
I emailed Uxcell last night to let them know I was having issues with my players battery, have not heard anything yet. I kinda hope I don't get the response you did. If all else fails the battery is only about $6.40 AUD ex postage($7) plus i have a $5 discount voucher sent with the player, I assume this is for a new battery :D :D :D :D :) :( :(

Hope this helps

I finally got a reply today:

Dear Customer,

We are so sorry to hear about that. Would you please send it back to us for investigation? We will send a replacement to you once we had received and investigated the item. For the duration of sending back the replacement, it normally takes about 2 to 3 weeks as we have to firstly receive your faulty item, and then we investigated for you, then we have to mark down in our record and inform our logistics department to arrange a replacement and it may take them some time as well to send another one. I hope that you can kindly understand our situation.

what do you guys think, should I send it?

do I have to pay shipping all the way to hong kong?

why don't they just send me a replacement battery?

I got the same reply. So I shipped back 2 just before xmas. They'll never know if your problem is just the battery, or the loading circuit, or something else, without checking. You can't expect them to send around parts for costumer's home diagnosis.

I think I'll send it back :( I'm pretty sure it's the battery but I doubt the ipod nano batteries will fit, the player is to small for that. I hope shipping doesn't cost too much :( but oh well, having the player as it is now can't be that much worse that not having it here, since I can't use it away from the mains outlet in any case. thanks all for the replies, I just hope uxcell doesn't mess up again or you'll all be hearing about it soon.

Just a quick note! my player i have would only give me an hours playtime no matter how long i charged it and it took a while before it accepted charge, whilst visiting my mother i plugged it in to her laptop to charge as it was flat and had a trip ahead and even an hours worth helps! only to find on USB1 it charged fully! will only give and hours playtime of USB2 charge though! bit odd but may help!

Any word yet on your player from uxcell?... I bought 2 ofthem after christmas and mine charged great the first time not it won't charge at all. I guess its time to send it back for repairs... But was wondering if anybody has gotten theirs back or if they have confirmed it was a battery issue...

Re: Battery won't charge on new osmium player 2gb

I received an i-nickel 2gb player after xmas w/ the same problem - not charging on the charger or usb.
Contacted uxcell and customer service and they gave me some things to try which didn't work and later they said to return it for evaluation and if found defective they'd send another. I found shipping charges would be about $30 USD. I contacted customer service again asking if I would be reimbursed for return shipping and if I wasn't then could they just send a battery.
Got an email today saying they were sending the battery.

oh that sounds like a good idea, I'm gonna go ahead and do that bc mine was $68, and $30 is like half the price.

also my brother's mirage player refused to charge a week after we got them, so shipping them over there would cost too much money. my order number is Order ID: ORD20061218025 if they can at all see this forum. I sent the email tonight asking for the batteries. thanks all for the replies so far :)
