Dear customer,
Please connect your player with your pc then click
the removable disk(that is the player on "my computer") on the right, then
choose "format", under the format file, please choose "FAT" but not "FAT32".
Please kindly have a try and advise.
the firmware will add to the website,

My response

thank you i did not understand the first time thank you for the advice it is now running as a removable drive i will keep checking back for the firmware when that becomes available thank you again for responding promptly to my questions i look forward to ordering new products from your company. i am a very happy customer!

So in the End i am very impressed with the response time and i love the product but i am SOL untill they update the web page.. I am thinking i might just order a second one and repair the old one with the new one unless there are any other suggestions.

i have tried every firmware that is remotely close and the dead player guide ( Very helpful) but no tool (3.5 3.7 4.05 4.07 4.09 )versions worked except to get it back to a removable drive..

Thank you hope this helps a few people

Why not "FAT32"? I was always confused about this, could someone set me straight.... Some things I read advise formatting FAT32, others advise FAT. And if FAT32 is the one to pick for the Fulll Metal Platinum, should I assume this is what UXCELL advises for their Glacier, or might that be FAT only?!

michiganjfrog,

The older boards used to only work with FAT and not FAT32. FAT was the easiest to work with so everyone recommended it.

However, due to FAT's 2GB limitation and the firmware updates that has come out since then, it is now better to format the newer players with FAT32 instead.

Hope that helps.

mortal004,

I wouldn't think too much about firmware updates just yet. Enjoy your playe while you have it.

Updating your player with an incorrect firmware version will render your player 'dead'. You only need to read the "Dead Players" section of this forum to find out how many people have tried and failed.

To be honest, very very few manufacturers release an update to their firmware. It's the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" scarenio. So if a player has been released with one firmware, they generally don't update unless they release a new model player.

If your player is working fine, I would say "enjoy" it. Think about modifying the theme and skin on it if you want, but use your OWN firmware. There are lots of different types of firmware and players out there and using someone else's will render your player dead.

Then why have a "firmware update" selection in the Glacier's menu? You may be right, but the thing is, it *is* broken, and needs to be fixed. As I've mentioned in another thread recently, the Glacier has problems playing a significant number of WMA, OGG, WAV (all of them) and MP3 files (ie. VBR MP3). With the exception of OGG, these are all formats it is officially supposed to play, and nowhere does it mention it only plays some of them. This would be a -great- player, able to compete alongside the name brands, if it wasn't for this important flaw.

Re: Full Metal Platinum - MP4 Player 1.5 inch LCD 1GB - Silv

 Armin Thanks for the advice about the firmware the issue is when fallowing the manual to make a back up copy of the firmware it over wrote it self i got it back up to at least work as a storage device. Uxcell is doing a great job i just have to wait for the firmware to be posted in there download section.. The reason i posted this is so that people are very thurogh on leaving well enough alone.

"IF YOU PLAYER WORKS DON'T MESS WITH THE FIRMWARE!!" even if you are just creating a back up ask the experts how to and enjoy the darn thing can't beat portable homestarrunner!!
