Default Newly discovered way to charge your Glacier!!!

Hello, i too have recieved a Glacier that doesn't charge when plugged into the wall or computer. BUT, i have found a way to get the glacier to recognize low battery and charge...found it basically by screwing around.

It worked for my completely dead battery, hopefully this will help you guys out to and save you your hard earned money!

1: turn the power switch to the "ON" postion...if your glacier dies its okay

2lug the USB cord into your glacier and computer.

3: wait till you see the "Connections/Connected" screen( picture of a computer and your MP4 player)

4: Press and HOLD the "M" button (MENU button); hold it till it goes to the Glaciers menu with the options for music, radion, text, games,ect....move and select "Radio"

5:wait till the radio menu opens and look at the upper right corner of your screen - where the battery symbol is located...if done correctly you should see the battery in a "charging animation"...or for those not familiar with this it basicaly the battery fills up then goes blank than fills up again.

6: If you see this animation, this means your Glacier is charging. charging time will vary depending on where the level of your battery is. ( mine took about 2-3 hours to get from a empty to full state)

7: now just sit it out or walk away and do something else....come back and enjoy beautiful music!.

i havent tried this with the wall jack, but i'm quite sure it will work because the concept is the same.

hopefully this helped you guys and gals, it worked for me!

PM me if you have anymore questions.

Later!

I tried that earlier today actually, before reading your post. I got the animation of the battery on the FM Radio. I left it charge like this for hours and hours. Expecting to hear beautiful music, I came back to a "Low Power! Bye! Bye!" message as soon as I took the USB out. I'm not exactly sure what the Chinese text says after the taunting Glacier Wizard waves his magic power-draining wand at you, but I'm pretty sure it says "No Worky For You!" in Mandarin. BTW, I tried it with both Nokia batteries I have, the original Glacier faux Nokia and an original Nokia that came in a sealed packaged. The Glacier battery reads 2.9v, as always.

Another thing I tried that I thought might work at reviving my incapacitated Glacier was after noticing that playing a file (any file, music or video) now resulted in the ubiquitous "Disk Error!", I reformatted the player with a low level format, and put a few media files on it. No more Disk Error! message but of course, it wouldn't play anything because the machine shuts down with that Low Power! message before the first note arrives.

Just one. Do you know which airline Keith has chosen for his vacation? I was thinking of meeting him at the gate with my disassembled Glacier in hand, so I can be first in line with my Glacier sob story...

There is a certain procedure/order in which you need to plug in the player to the wall charger.

If I remember rightly, it goes:

Plug the charger into the wall, turn on the player, plug cable in the player then the charger.

I will check later to see if this is correct. If the order is different to this, it wont charge.

hi the reason your players aren't charging is because they are probably coming with a 200-300ma charger, Glaciers and players of the same design need to be charged from a 500ma wall charger. i

If you get/purchase a 500ma charger than your player will charge, many computers USB drives do not output enough power to charge a glacier.

I think you'll have to cite where you are getting your source of information on this, because I can't even find a 500ma stand alone charger for the Nokia bl4c. The closest I found was this, and I'm not sure if it needs to be plugged into the phone, because the ad is so uninformative:

Looks like the connectors in the picture indicate it clicks right onto the device you want to charge, and to the battery holder, (all male connectors). So if it has no adapter fitting the glacier, we can't use it. We could as well get spare bl-4c's and a bl-4c charger for that price, better drag a loaded bl-4c along than this bulky thing with AA's.
As for the charging amperage, will see if I can get some info later on the charger's capacity for Nokia phones using bl-4c's/bl-5c's.

ps the charger I got off ebay for the bl-4c batteries charges with 250mA max., and it works okay.

Yes, mine too is 250ma and works ok, I believe we bought the same one.
What I was looking for with the charger in the ad, is a 500ma that charges the battery directly. I was not looking for a charger that plugs directly into the Glacier, there is no such thing. I also dont see evidence of a 500ma charger for the nokia battery existing. You may find one that charges the battery through the nokia phone but... doesn't that mean you have to buy a nokia phone? It gets a little impractical at this point...

Of course I'm not going to buy a nokia phone and charger to charge my batteries, but for the specs:
found 1 car charger that charges bl-4c nokia's with 500mA max, one wall charger that charges with 300mA max. So I'm not so sure the glacier would need 500mA minimum to deliver a sufficient current to the battery.

I know as i sell a lot of these on my site and i pack them specially with 500ma 2pin chargers, they come from the factory with 3pin 500ma chargers and it's the manufacturer that has informed me that the 'glacier' type player must use 500ma charger or above.

Some can charge with the standard 200-300ma charger BUT it will degrade your battery very fast as it cannot give a proper charge to the battery.

I am unsure about a standalone charger for just the battery, you will probably need to search for Nokia accessories for that.

The admins know i run a site that sells mp4, so what i am saying isn't being pulled out of my backside.

I have spare nokia 3120 and its original 800mah charger. It uses bl-5c but I can place bl-4c in it too (bl-4c is a bit slim). Because of the 800mah charger, batteries become full just in 45 minutes. So what I do? I remove the bl-5c battery from the phone and place the bl-4c battery (which was removed from the Glacier) into the phone, charging in 45 minutes and put into Glacier again, thats it!

Also I've found desktop chargers for this battery on the ebay.
search "bl-4c desktop"
You can use this with your nokia charger (most desktop chargers dont come with ac power supply on ebay, so you still need a charger)

Well as a result,
desktop charger + extra bl-4c battery + shipment + your own nokia charger = USD 7.18 on ebay
and they are full in 45 minutes

I think this is the best battery solution

Regards
