Check the memory deeper by using the Swissknife tool, maybe that will help you more.

Re: 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem
Tried to run Swissknife but it crashes on my PC. Found another util, NTI Ninja (30 day trial) that can create secure partitions. This reports 103 MB partition. Also tried Dubaron DiskImage which also indicates 103 MB partition. Puzzled as to why I canot run Swissknife. I am going to try and run the BartPE version tommorrow after creating a BartPE boot CD.
Since previous post Uxcell have replied asking me to now check the memory reported on the player - unsurprisingly this is also reporting 103 MB. |
Re: 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem
Latest update: Recieved the following email from Uxcell -
"We are so sorry to hear about that. Would you please send it back to us for investigation? We will send a replacement to you once we had received and investigated the item. For the duration of sending back the replacement, it normally takes about 2 to 3 weeks as we have to firstly receive your faulty item, and then we investigated for you, then we have to mark down in our record and inform our logistics department to arrange a replacement and it may take them some time as well to send another one. I hope that you can kindly understand our situation." I have emailed back enquiring whether they will refund my postage costs. Particularly as the product I recieved was not as advertised (I accept that they need to investigate first though). I have also pointed out that 2 to 3 weeks to investigate and complete the administration is on the slow side. I would have though that this could be turned around in no more than a few days (week at most). Hotboxx, thanks for your all your help and advise. |
Re: 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem
Hotboxx, how did you get on testing the 1700MAh battery?
|
The maximum nonstop playing time was 13 hours with the 1700MAh battery. With the standard battery it was 10 1/2 hours. Not such a big improvement.
We should keep in mind that in real life nobody will listen during 13 hours nonstop to music. |
Re: 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem
I am surpised that the improvement was that small. Was hoping that the 1700 would last a lot longer than that. I could than watch video and listen to MP3 on long journeys without battery replacement. Looks like I will just have to swap the battery. Sure that I found a posting on here saying that the genuine Nokia battery gave 16 hours runtime (they are 800mAH I think) - will have to do some more investigating.

Re: 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem
Latest update:
As mentioned in an earlier post, I emailed Uxcell this email: "Thank you for the reply. I will return just the player (i.e not the cable, charger adapter manual etc) as this is cheaper for postage costs. Can you confirm that you will refund my postage costs. 2 to 3 weeks seems rather a long time to investigate the problem and complete the administration. I would hope that you can reduce that time to a week at most." I then posted off the faulty player. The same day that I posted it off, I recieved the following reply from Uxcell: "Dear customer, That's ok, please just send the player to us. We will arrange to send you a replacement once your item is received. Regards Uxcell customer service" I think that this is showing good customer service from Uxcell. They are listening to the customer (me) and providing me with feedback on progress. I do not think that you could ask for much more than that. Think it is worthwhile summarising (esp as some recent posts have been quite negative) my opinion on Uxcell customer service so far: Uxcell have responded within a reasonable timeframe to all emails that I have sent them - At most 24 hours, most often within 12 hours. Bearing in mind the time zones, I think that the communication has been prompt. Well done so far Uxcell. The tech support has been as good as I would expect. Bit frustrating to be asked to run diagnostics that have already been run, however this is the nature of tech support questions and they need to be answered. Again, good service. Uxcell have acknowledged and replied to concerns around "potential" slow turnaround of faulty player. This is good customer service. If Uxcell deliver on their promise (and I have no reason to to think that they will not), then I think that this is good customer service. I hope that this thread provides a fair and balanced (it should as I am just reporting facts) view of the type of service to expect from Uxcell. I will continue to update progress on this thread. |

The battery I bought should be 1700, but on Ebay you never know what you get. Maybe they "hack" batterys now :-)
I don't even know how to test the real capacity, any ideas? |

Yes, I realize this doesn't simulate real world conditions, and for that you have to start/stop over a period of time, and that might make the battery last longer or shorter, but then it makes it impossible to accurately compare one battery to the other, and that's the point here. People want to know whether the 1700mah is worth it or whether the original true Nokia is. Note that buying an original true Nokia from an eBay seller is not a 100% guarantee! The one I bought off eBay came in a sealed package with the hologram sticker that checked out, but the validation number when tested on Nokia's site said it had been used before! |
