Default 2 GB Glacier Memory Size Problem

Recieved my Glacier today after buying direct from Uxcell. After playing with pre loaded stuff, I tried loading a bunch of MP3s.

Noticed that I had empty folders, not all folders were reported on the player, when I viewed them in Windows, noted corrupt filenames. Tried deleting folders using Windows, was unable to delete due to reported corruption.

Found the guide to removing memory hack (http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html) and ran through this.

The player initially stated 2GB at the Step 2 "Partition and Encrypt" stage. But when I moved the slider all the way to the right, reported significantly less (probably 103 GB) but did not make a note. Proceded anyway and followed the rest of the guide up to and including step 3. Great Guide by the way. Player now reports 103 MB as does Windows. Guess this means a memory size issue (hacked memory?).

I have reported this to Uxcell and am awaiting a reply.

I am disapointed that I have had problems especially as I was due to take advantage of the 10% off voucher (which expires tonight) and order further items if the Glacier order was OK. Obviously, until this is resolved I shall not be ordering anything further.

NOTE: on reporting problems, initially reported this on the contacts section of the Uxcell site, I guess this was the wrong way to report issues. On the site there is no mention of contacting info@uxcell.com (issue has now been reported to this address). Thankfully I had found this site when researching MP3 players and found the address here (great site BTW). Perhaps Uxcell should add the email address to the contacts section on the Uxcell site.

On a positive note, the Glacier looks great, has a bright screen, sound quality is good for a cheap player (limited testing due to problems but pleased so far). Not tested the supplied headphones (I use Sennheiser CX300s - get some, do your ears a favour). Supplied video slightly choppy and bad lip sync, however better than I expected at this price. No sign of battery seating issues. Included game was a Tetris type clone.

Ordering and delivery was within the stated 14 days from Uxcell and they provided prompt feedback when I queried my order.

Apologies for the length of this post.

I received my Glacier on 30/01, and it is also a 2GB. I did the "remove hack" procedure and there is still 2 GB memory. So it is 100% not a hacked player that I bought from Uxcell. I don't use folders but put all my music on the memory root, 844 songs on 2 GB in WMA.
Great player, the battery lasted 10 1/2 hours during nonstop playing.

Recieved a prompt reply from Uxcell today advising a FAT format of the removable disk that is the Glacier and to advise them of the results. Will try this later today (at work at the moment).

Hotboxx, glad to hear that yor player is working fine. Battery life sounds good, was that with the display turned off. I left mine running last night to test the battery. Had switched off by the time I checked this morning. So I must be getting less than 8 hours life (screen on). The installed battery is the no brand one, I expect to replace with higher capacity one once memory problem resolved.

Hotboxx
I am guessing that the 1700mAh battery should last for 20 hours plus. look forward to hearing how it performs. Guess that you got it from one of the ebay sites referenced on the forums. I need to do a bit of investigation to see if they deliver to the UK (cannot find any UK sources that supply batteries with that high a capacity).

I bought the battery from a German Ebay seller, the item number was 290076120820 , the battery was only 1.95 Euro plus shipping. I checked it and he also ships to the UK.

Hotboxx, thanks for the ebay reference. Once player is fixed/replaced, I will get one of the high capacity batteries. Good price, even including the postage.

Tried the FAT format of the player as Uxcell requested. Windows and the player still report 102 MB, also tested capacity by copying files on, disk size error at 100 MB (as expected). No duplicate files this time though.

Emailed results to Uxcell last night, awaiting a reply.

Did you try to format the memory again by using the format tool? Maybe something went wrong during the previous formatting.

Yes, tried that. The memory manager in the partition option reports 103MB. Both windows formating and using the format tool both only format to 103MB. Think it is a partition problem as in the partition cannot be increased beyond 103MB, therefore any formating is up to the partition limit.

Annoying as I am pleased with all other aspects of the player. Tried playing ogg files on it and they work fine.
