novatillo , i see your concerns. The 1.5" metal platinum has the Vol button at the bottom, whilst the 1.8" metal platinum has the play/pause button instead (similiar to ipods).
It is entirely upto you on whether you want to return it or not. They have a 30-day full refund policy. However, most likely you'll only get a refund of the player's price and not the shipping price.
Also, you'll need to pay for the return shipping costs. I don't know how much it would cost, but it's not worth it. As you'll finally be paying for 2 postages but end up returning the player.
I think the button print shouldn't be much of an eye-sore. Besides, the ipod nano has a 1.2" screen as compared to 1.8" of your player. The screen is much more obvious than a button print.
