Glacier 2GB has only 128MB?

Hi,

Just to let everyone know that I purchased a 2GB Glacier recently from Uxcell that I received today.

I had all sorts of problems with it - I was trying to copy some 200 MB of initial media files and it always gave me errors like duplicate folders that I could not delete, files with 0KB and files with format error when I player in the MP4 players.

After going through this forum I realized that the memory has been hacked. It is actually a 128MB player - now all the problems make sense.

What a rip off. I have tried to contact UXCell - lets see what happens.

If you have bought a 2GB Glacier recently from UXcell please checl and let me know if anyone has received a hacked player from Uxcell and what have they done in the past..

So did you low level format the player according to the hacked thread, or not?

Why don't you try going through a little more of this forum. You'll find that your story is nothing new, and you'll be able to answer your own question about what they've done in the past for those who got bum players (note that I didn't say "hacked player", because apparently, they're not). For that reason, there's no need to be yelling "BEWARE!" from the rooftops, like there's a piano falling from above, when its only a feather gently floating to the ground. Which means stop worrying, if you have a player that is showing less memory than it should, UXcell will fix your problem. The only problem may be in contacting them.... try info@uxcell.com

sgupta27 , your case has happened before. But it was probably a manufacturing fault. i'm sure uxcell would get the player replaced. Just wait for their reply, although the earliest i guess would be next wed or thurs due to the Chinese Lunar New Year.

sgupta27,

When did you purchase your player?
Can you send us your order number?
I can ask UXcell and see what they say.

It has been almost a week now.
I sent emails to info@uxcell.com,

PM to Keith and Binh who are the moderators here.

Have not heard back from anyone of them.

Going through Paypal to void the transaction seems to be the only option now...

Ridiculous. You gotta have patience when dealing with UXCell, particularly around the time of the chinese new year. Sorry but "almost one week" is not the kind of patience you gotta have. Dont think Paypal's gonna be your saviour here, especially if less than one week is too long for you. With Paypal, they`re gonna ask you to get a certified 3rd opinion the player is as you say it is, which may cost roughly the cost of the player. If there is still money left over, Paypal will swallow that up with the $25US deduction they take out of your winning claim. If by chance you paid so much for your Glacier there's still money left, that may go into shipping costs because Paypal can oblige you to send the faulty player back. You could end up having to pay more to win your claim than the player cost you. Furthermore, Paypal can take 30 days to settle your claim. Thats a lot longer than one week. Finally, (yes theres more), it only leaves you 2 more such claims within the year (since you only get 3). Now... sure you wanna make a claim with Paypal instead of reattempting to contact Uxcell?

I can see the hassle with the Paypal - but I am a US resident, they don't withhold taxes and at least I have faith that they will go through a fair process. UXcell also has a 30 day no questions asked return policy so if nothing else they should honor that and I should not have to prove anything to anybody.

The other options is I paid through American Express card so I can just have my credit card company dispute it.

any way not the options I would like to pursue but patience is somewhat wearing thin - reading some previous email I find it hard to believe how some people can classify this as a manufacturing defect. Someone has to hack the memory to make it look like 2GB. I am still not clear if this an honest mistake by UXCell or a regular business practice where less sophisticated buyers might never discover the real issue.

Thanks for you pointers though - I agree that in any scenario (UXCell included) the return process is not going to be pleasant.

Have you even read this thread yet?

Maybe you should try having some patience.
