Perhaps I'm losing my mind. (FMP 1.8)
I am having issues with my Full Metal Platnum 1.8, which I got last week. I have dropped folders containing MP3 files into the "drive" but I cannot seem to select songs in other folders. Am I doing something wrong or do I have to involve pentacles and candles to get this thing working?
I press "menu" to get out of the "now playing screning"
I hit "menu" again to go to "local folder"
I then go gown to a song "any one" and I hitting "menu" should play the song that is highlighted, but NO, it goes back to the "now playing" screen, to the top song in the highest alphabetically named folder. I've tried numerous button combination, and UXCELL Support is less than useful. If someone can help me out on this one, or knows something that I don't, please, let me know.

Re: Perhaps I'm losing my mind. (FMP 1.8)
Sounds just like you're not using it right. In the music screen, you press play to pause the music, then hit MENU briefly to go to LOCAL FOLDER. Then hit MENU briefly on the "\" backslash to go up the hiearchy of folders to find the folder you want to play. You keep selecting things with brief click of MENU key. You select the file you want to play with MENU and only once in the MENU SCREEN (now playing) do you hit PLAY to start the song. If ever you hit "PLAY" when you should be hitting "MENU" it will go and play the top song in the highest folder or more probably, the last song played.

I'm following your directions step for step, but it's still not working...
I am kicking MENU briefly to select everything. I can navigate to a folder, and highlight a file, but when I hit MENU to play the highlited file, it simply returns me to the top song in the highest folder. Assuming that I might be retarded, I proceeded to follow the steps to the last click, and this time, try pressing PLAY, that did not work either. I'm fairly sure that I can operate an MP4 player, but this thing is driving me mad!

Perhaps it also could be you're not quick enough on the draw? If you dont select the song in the playlist quickly enough (by clicking on the MENU button), in like 2 seconds the chipods will automatically go into the NOW PLAYING (MUSIC) screen with the last song showing. So once you're in the LOCAL FOLDER, you have to hit MENU on the song you want quickly. It might help to check the manual that came with the unit or any manuals on uxcell's site, to be sure you are using the functions correctly.

::BUMP::
Negative on that one as well. I've tried being as quick as possible, and with regards to the "manual" that they provide... well, let's just say my dog speaks better english.

Here is a video navigating through the FMP menu:
FMP Menu
Are you doing it the same way? If you are, then I would suspect your have a firmware issue with your player. I would contact Uxcell about a replacement.
(BTW, I'm using a pencil cause i have sausage fingers.... )
