My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

:( My Glacier has been working great, and I really liked it.

But now today, it won't turn on. All I get is the hourglass screen, which never goes away.

Reading around, it seems like my problem is unfixable. It also seems that there are UXcell people here on this forum to help...?

Here's my information:

Order #: ORD20070120759

Item #: mv0blk2048mp039

What do I do?

nanocopyuser 18th Feb 2007 2:49 pm

One more dead Glacier. :'( RIP.

I really want this player, but isn't it like 99.99% that it will die in 5 days? o.o

Re: My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

Should I email UXcell? Or wait a while?

I don't mind waiting, as long as eventually I get this resolved...

lattesurf 19th Feb 2007 11:21 am

moosealert , try emailing them instead. Sometimes your post might get missed.

But it seems like a firmware problem, you know, it's stuck on the hourglass screen :(

deepakrr 20th Feb 2007 6:41 am

i have said it a hundred times. the same things happened to my nokia battery mp4 player and a change of battery worked.

you have not experienced this problem so it would be better for me to advise moosealert since i have experienced what he is undergoing right now

no offence nanocopyuser

mossealert, if you arent convinced i am sure one of your friends might be having a nokia mobile phone. borrow its battery from them for a few mins and see if it works. you could also borrow it for a day to be satisfied that it doesnt occur over a period of time.

the battery should be either bl-4c or 5c. bl-4c is preferred since you can close the battery cover as well. but if you can find only bl-5c its ok. dont close the battery cover. just test and see :)

Thanks for the tip.

I've finally managed to get the cover off... But taking the battery out doesn't fix it.

I'll try and get my hands on another battery...

Re: My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

I had a problem with my glacier. I emailed Uxcell and after a series of diagnosis emails (which I replied to) they asked me to return it for a replacement, I have just recieved the replacement.

If you have not yet emailed Uxcell, email details of the problem and the order number - info@uxcell.com

Full details of my progress through to getting a replacement are here:

Are you at all able to get the main screen when you connect thru the USB port on your computer (and turn the unit on)? If so, try just putting it on the FM Radio screen and leaving it there a few hours.

No. Under no circumstance have I been able to get anything on the screen besides the hourglass logo. I've tried everything I can think of...

But I still haven't been able to find someone who's cell phone has the type of battery I need, it's very frustrating. Is UXcell's holiday over? Should I try sending them another email?

Yes

Okay, I got a reply, asking me to format my player (FAT) via My Computer, but my "USB Device" isn't detected as a removable storage device, so it doesn't show up there... I'll post their reply when I get it.

No. No more replies... I'm dissapointed. I'll email them again. Please post if you find a solution, or if they respond to you. Thanks.

Re: My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

Okay, I got another reply. It asked me to do the same thing...

I decided to be more blunt this time, and asked if I could ship it back for inspection/replacement...

Re: My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

Just PM "Keith" on here. My glacier did the exact same thing, and i explained to him that it would cost more for me to send the player back than what i paid for it. He sent a reply straight back and made arrangements for a replacement to be sent straight away free of charge, without sending the other 1 back.

Re: My Glacier is stuck on the hourglass screen!

I have finally gotten an answer back from uxcell, they want me to ship my Glacier back to them--Here's the email:

Dear customer,

We are sorry that the item doesn’t work. Please send it back for our
investigation. We will arrange to send a replacement as soon as
possible.
Please DO NOT send the defective item to the return address on the
envelope as
it is the address of UPS MI Processing Centre for non-deliverable
items. IF
your item is returned to that US address, it will be LOST and
IRRETRIEVABLE.
We are NOT responsible for any lost item shipped to that address.
We will need to take a few days to investigate the returned items so as
to
avoid sending you a replacement that fails.
Our address for returning items:
DRAGONMARTS COMPANY LIMITED
( Uxcell )
2B, High Fashion Centre
1-11 Kwai Hei Street,
Kwai Fong, N.T.
Hong Kong
Please enclose your name, return address, order number and the reason
for
sending back this item.
It would be very nice of you if you could write down your order number
on the
surface of the envelope. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Regards
Uxcell customer service

I had really hoped that I wouldn't have to pay for the shipping back to China, but it looks like I don't have much of a choice because I really do like the player (while it worked, anyway..). I'll keep everyone posted..

When you have issues with an item you purchase from a store, you can't call them on the phone and tell them to mail your refund in. You have to return the item back to the store before they will issue an exchange or refund. Its no different when buying online, you are expected to have to return a faulty item to the dealer, and generally speaking, the buyer is obligated to pay for shipping.

I'm in the same boat you're in. I did send Keith a PM, and am still awaiting a response...

lattesurf 3rd Mar 2007 5:00 pm

luvarun , as mentioned by michiganjfrog, you will need to send your faulty player back to uxcell first before they will issue you a replacement player. This was also what they replied you in the email.

Perhaps email uxcell to ask if you can just mail back the player only, without all the accessories and adaptor, to reduce the postage weight.

Yeah, let's hope these one's last a bit longer!

Overall I've been thrilled by the UXcell support I've gotten... So the thread ends with a recommendation and a satisfied customer. :)

Hi, I'm having the exact same problems and I trying PM'ing Keith, but it says no such user exists.

I figure that if I send uxcell a message, they'll want me to send the player back...
